It's the nes yoshi game. I never played it so I have no idea what it's like.

So far they've had balloon fight, f zero, punch out, kirby and super metroid as 30 cent games.

Its a puzzle game that is worse than Yoshi cookie IMO. The end seems to be based on luck of getting what you need. I got it for $5 on Wii cause my wife loves it. She always beats me, only game she can claim that though.

Still, all the stuff they hyped for Zelda and earthbound made it seem really cool.
was this sorta replaced by the expansion pack?

I had owned a sega CD previously (LOL night trap) and fig'd it was ghana be gimmicky.

What were the expectations for zelda? my elder years replaced most ign64.com memories. matt cassamasina was always cool tho.

There was an article in an old Nintendo power that talked about what they had in store for DD users, but I don't remember any of it, other than thinking, "Damn that sounds awesome!"

That's what I said about basically any preview article in NP.

nothing huge, they just had a contest i think with lttp, where you could not get any additional hearts (had to grab the full ones in temples to be able to exit) and had to beat the game without dying or saving or both.

back in those days, you had to like **** with the lighting in the room you were in and move **** around so they could see not only the screen cap, but also the unit itself to prove you weren't like game sharking os

I subscribed from 1992 to 1994. My mom just threw away all my issues of that and Gamepro.

They also used to print the names of people who beat games so I sent them a photo of my screen after beating Castlevania IV, but never got in the magazine.

disjointed noob post from former gamer:

so uhh, super mario 3d world looks pretty cool. i don't see why good platforming has to be exclusive to mario titles....are there games of similar style/n64-ps2-style platforming in the works? i recall games like gex and glover etc. being simply awesome yet I don't feel there's games of that style "anymore".

Your best bet are indie games or downloadable games for consoles. But for the most part, they all stick to 2D. You have great platformers like Rayman Origins and Donkey Kong Country Returns, but very few in the 3D environment. The only game I recall recently was Jett Rocket, which was a downloadable Wiiware game. Well, there are also the new Sonic games.

I guess 3D platformers are difficult to make well, so everyone gave up except Sonic and let Mario have the title and accolades.

Sad to hear I'm right. 3-d platforming has always been the most rewarding genre, and now that I'm in a position to enjoy gaming again I'm sad.

I don't mind the indie titles. I played an epic demo at GS of a sidescrolling ps3 adventure through negative space (it could've been a graphing calculator game) and had a laugh telling the employee to piss off as he tried to sell me on more pricey titles.

(grinding demo for 20 mins)

Employee: so, killing time or looking for a game?

Gex and Glover are possibly the worst games on N64 of all time.
