My gaming time has decreased greatly last few years and gotten more into PC gaming, so it was a smart decision by me IMO. I still own every other major Nintendo console and two handhelds.

Played for about 160h since release 50 days ago. Took 150h to get to A+, A+99 from there wasn't hard if you try to get queued in with B+ and A- kiddies.

The hardest part is the B+/A- range where you can get trolled with B- kids and A+ers on your team causing you to win or lose irregular amounts of points. There's just no consistency in those grades. Once you crack through to A it's smooth(er) sailing.

Used Krak-on Roller, by far my best weapon, and the Recon shirt which I swear by but is criminally underrated by everyone.

Something like 1.4M coins and 47 Sea Snails lmao. Ready for this to become an eSport asap

Stream it more! You're the type of streamer that could blow this up. I don't have any where near those hours but I'm still loving the game.

I only *just* got an HD Capture Card, streamed both Splatfests and a little bit more. I enjoy the game a lot and will definitely stream it more when team matches come out (apparently in August.) I've been (lazily) trying to get things organized to make a real "Splatoon eSports Team" with websites and all which I can use for other games like Overwatch, Smash, etc. Two of my speedrun pals are really awesome at Splatoon too (one .52 Gal Deco and one Splattershot Jr) so we'll have things on lock.

Hard to say what the short term and long term future of Splatoon holds. It's not uncommon to see it with fewer than 100 viewers overall on Twitch, and when it does get into the multiple hundreds a lot of them are "speedrunners" "speedrunning" Splatoon. Tbh they're only doing that because they're not good enough for ranked, but it is troll to see these fairly popular kids getting 200-500 viewers playing Splatoon in an irrelevant manner. Almost feel like learning the speedrun myself just to show them up.

Nintendo definitely seems to be gearing towards competitive Splatoon tournaments and whatnot, though it also appears they're clueless when it comes to the eSports world, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. I don't think a slowish start means doom for the game yet. I wonder if Twitch was around in '02 how Melee would be doing in popularity. The game is INSANELY popular in Japan (notably @SplatoonJP has 160k+ Twitter followers while @SplatoonNA has 7k) so perhaps the visible lack in popularity is more of an NA Twitch thing. Maybe it gets more action on nicovideo.

Also, I always feel a bit self conscious streaming stuff I'm not top tier at, so getting A+99 makes it easier for me to confidently stream Splatoon as "one of the best" around. You'll see me streaming it more and more over the next little while.

still streaming *mostly* some pretty esoteric N64 speedruns, though again, hopefully when team matchmaking comes out in Splatoon I'll be doing a ton of that for a while.

I've played all 7 and own 5 of those. The one I really want to replay (which I obv don't own and only rented once as a kid) is Blast Corps.

Never played Blast Corps. Loved all the others when they came out. Maybe two or three still have replay value.

Huge SPLATOON update goes live tonight.

Here are the details:

http://en-americas-support.nintendo....il/a_id/14842/

basically you can finally join into Ranked lobbies with teammates, and there is a Private battle mode where you can exactly set teams, pick maps and modes. If this isn't eSports now then it might never be.

The larger overall point is that it's embarrassing how little support Nintendo has given to the Wii U Virtual Console. It would support Gamecube games in theory, especially with the Smash adapter, but nope. Why sell games to willing customers when you could just not do so, right?
