Why? I have to imagine it's not as expensive to make given that it's existing IP...

Well I probably should rephrase that. EA have said it needs to sell 5 million in order to survive. The game has only been in development for 2 years and they're using the same engine so it doesn't look massive budget. Your guess is as good as mine on why EA need it to sell so much. Dead Space 2 shipped 2 million and was considered a success.

Probably a bad example using an EA game because of how they roll. I know Homefront needed 2 million to break even. Here's an interesting article on what Max Payne 3 might have needed.

Awesome, my Wii U came a day early! Won't be able to play it until later but I'm gonna set it up and download the update now.

Just picked mine up from a midnight launch, doing the update now. There was surprisingly a lot of people there. They were doing raffles and ****, giving away pro controllers and Mario Kart Wii. I got there at 11:45 but apparently a lot of people were there all day waiting. I was very surprised. A good mix of people as well. Young, not so young and a lot of stoners.

For New Yorkers, the Deluxe Set is now easily available at the Nintendo Store at Rockefeller Center. Picked one up at lunch today and they had a lot in stock. I had tried a few other times but they were always sold out to the people waiting in line each morning.

Still trying to get my hands on one but like spaceman said it's for those who come early in the morning. I have $80 in bestbuy GC that i'm trying to use too and bestbuy has me driving around town like an idiot saying one store has it available but end up getting there and getting the bad news.

Does anyone else's Wii U crash? Mine has crashed three times so far and I've had to turn the console off at the plug. First time was like two hours after I had it which scared me; I didn't think it was gonna switch back on. I've had the last few Nintendo consoles on release day and I'm pretty sure none of them have ever crashed and they all still work fine so this is a bit worrying.

The games are good though. Mario U is awesome, I love the challenge modes and the main game is pretty strong; I've found it legit tough to get all three star coins on some of the levels. This is the quintessential 2D Mario game imo. Nintendo Land is a lot more fun than expected too, especially on multiplayer.

Have you done the second update? There was an update released a couple days ago that fixed the crashes. Mine has never done it but I wouldn't be too worried about it. It won't be a hardware problem.

Yeah loving NSMBU as well. Beat the final boss and now trying to 100% it which is proving to be a lot harder then I thought. Played some drunken Nintendo Land on the weekend as well with some friends and we had a lot of fun. One of them went out and bought a Wii U the next day. The Luigi and Mario mini games were the highlights. EB games AU is having a massive online only sale and some Wii U games are $48 each. Going to pick up Zombiu, AC3 and Scribblenauts. I'm even considering *gasps* Black Ops 2. I haven't played COD since MW2 but I've heard it's really fun playing online with one person on the pad and the other on the TV.

Oh actually my girlfriend said she installed an update the other day and it hasn't crashed since then so hopefully that's sorted it.

I'm a bit weird and have to get everything on each level before I move on so I haven't finished the game yet, some of the levels took me a good while to complete. I've been spending quite a bit of time on the challenge modes too, some of them are really hard to get the gold on; I can this this game taking quite a long time to fully complete.

Feel free to add me btw, my username is Coleman316. I don't have any friends yet

I tried to add you but it looks like your settings are set to not receive friend requests. Press home then go to the friend list then settings and you should see an option to allow friend requests.

My username on there is Jozzzz. Add me if you sort it out.

The homebrew channel is already running in Wii mode on a Wii U. This does not mean piracy, nor do I want it to mean piracy. It also doesn't mean the Wii U has been hacked or anything like that. What it does mean is that you will be able to run any Wii homebrew that doesn't need a cIOS, including emulators. USB loaders will not run. Emulators on Wii U is awesome news for me. This all has to be done in Wii mode which means any Wii U features like the gamepad will not work.

Yeah I wouldn't want that to happen. Some people already have a Wii usb loaders running. A usb loader capable of loading Wii U games would be terrible for the life of the console. Apart from that, pirating is for jerks.

that is not true, the wii was hacked almost from day 1 and it outsold both the ps3 and the xbox360.

Well obviously piracy will only affect console sales positively. Piracy didnt sell the majority of Wii's but I bet it sold a decent amount. Nintendo don't make their money on hardware though, they make it on software. They're losing money on each Wii U for example. The first Wii chip came out early but when soft mods and USB loaders came out over 2 years after is when 3rd party support and software sales dropped significantly. Look at the dreamcast and the PSP. The PSP sold 70 million consoles but its software lineup is terrible because no one wanted to spend a decent amount developing anything worthwhile.

If you're in the UK, HMV is selling the Wii U premium + ZombiU for £199, a saving of £139.

This plus Monster Hunter has shifted my interest in Wii U from non-existant to fairly high, just gonna wait for some impressions of Monster Hunter to come rolling in before I bite the bullet.

MHU is sick it's just MH3 redone, and MH3 was amazing (check it anywhere). Def. 100% worth the buy, esp. if you didnt play MH3

Well if you want to get in on the HMV deal, I'd advise you do it swiftly. Just went in to my local store and they sold out yesterday.
