Pretty funny tweet from the CEO of Sony, Kaz Harai: "The Wii U has a Day 1 Firmware Update that takes ages to download. And people always say Sony are the ones stealing ideas from Nintendo…"

Btw ZombiU got a 4.5/10 from Gamestop bu the article has since been taken down. Wii U games are generally getting decent reviews though, particularly from IGN.

Grando, surprised they didn't have Mario but I believe you can download that from the shop if you want, and I don't think a pro controller is essential (not yet anyway). How is Nintendo Land? And how long did this update take? Kinda jelly btw, still gotta wait 12 days for mine.

4.5, ouch... Looking forward to more reviews but if that's the general consensus then I'm glad I waited on pre-ordering.

It got a 6.3 from IGN; looks like it's fair to say this is the Red Steel of Wii U. Might see if I can change my ZombiU premium edition pre order for the deluxe set.

Eurogamer gave ZombiU a 9 and Destructoid gave it an 8. Guess you either love it or hate it.

still updating/transferring my old wii stuff over

the transfer is pretty seamless, but it's somewhat confusing

you need to sign up for some account to download the software on both consoles and move the sd card back and forth

got a scare when it said the sd card could not be used after all my wii files were transferred to it, but all is well

took just over an hour for initial updates, an extra hour and change for the transferring

I just realized yesterday nintendo has an xbox like controller for the wii for 20 bucks...

And here I've been pulling my hair out trying to use the pointer in COD...

is fifa 13 meant to be comparable to fifa 13 on ps3 or is the ps3 superior?

Or Eurogamer and Destructoid ca$hed in their Nintendo bucks before writing the review

There is a good video on IGN showing the UI of Wii U, looks kinda cool imo.

took back fifa 13 cause the reviews were meh - got mario

the gamepad is super crisp - it's like having a supersized 3ds in hd. you catch yourself watching the gamepad instead of the tv.

mario is super fun too - ****loads of coins to get. it's like a mix of super mario 3 and mario world.

lol I guess you're not familiar with those 2 sites then.

Most sites are liking the game, especially the sites where I respect their opinion. Greg Miller also did the IGN review and to me his opinion is absolute ass.

i had this crazy urge to buy the wii u today, but then i did a little research and realized that aside from smbu, there are no games out for it right now that interest me enough to justify purchasing it.

TILT

i still really want to get it though, i'm just going to wait for another game or two that i'm into to come out

I was in Target today and they had a display. I was excited to try it as I hadn't gotten my hands on it. I scroll through the 15 or so games they have listed on it, and every ****ing one is a video. Not one demo in the bunch. WTF is the point?

this is just really disappointing to me. the only exclusive that's good is smbu are new system launch exclusives usually this weak? i guess it's to be expected... really looking forward to bayonetta and monster hunter

Yeah, the Gamecube and Wii launch lineups were pretty mediocre too. Wii had Twilight Princess but that was also available on Gamecube. Gamecube had Luigi's Mansion, and Rogue Squadron 2 was also exclusive, but there hasn't been a huge Nintendo game to release with a console since Mario 64.

NSMBU is meant to be good though, and there will obv be awesome games to follow, so it's worth getting if you like Nintendo games but yeah you could probably wait a bit if you're not too bothered.

I decided to cancel my ZombiU preorder btw, just getting Nintendo Land and Mario now.

yeah i was really looking forward to zombiu

i'm still probably going to get the system pretty soon. i have this uncontrollable urge to buy a new video game system whenever it comes out, and the wiiu will inevitably be awesome.

i will probably get it tomorrow just to play smb and mess around with the gamepad and TVii or whatever it's called.

the urge cannot be controlled no matter how much sense it makes to wait for more games to come out

getting the WiiU at bestbuy tomorrow since I have a $30 giftcard. Can I buy the Mario game off the WiiU and download it or do I have to buy it from bestbuy as well? Which would be a better option?

You get more Nintendo Points if you download it. Easier to resell if you have the physical copy.

losing the physical copy has always been a problem my whole life, kids taking it or them breaking. Never sold my games either so looks like im downloading. Thanks

I think the nintendo website says you get 10% of all purchases online as points including the Wii U, when I buy from BestBuy does this mean I won't be getting those points?

Easiest way to transfer Wii data to Wii U?

3rd party launch exclusive will always be mediocre. AAA games these days usually have to sell at least a million just to break even. Kingdoms of Amalur needed to sell 3 million, the UFC games needed to sell 2 and Dead Space 3 needs to sell 5 million just to break even. That's why a lot of publisher's aren't taking risks and rarely trying new IP's these days. Nintendo manufacture around 1.2 million consoles a month. They only started in late september. That means by the end of the year there's really only going to be 3 million consoles out there. It just doesn't make sense for a publisher to create a big budget launch exclusive. ZombiU would have had a tiny budget compared to say Assassin's Creed or any other big Ubisoft franchise. I've heard you either hate it or love it. A few people I've spoken to really enjoy it.

If you look at Wii, 360 and PS3 launches they were the same. A bunch of ports with upres graphics/gimmicks and a few mediocre exclusives.
