Most traders stock up on games when they're on sale for cheap then trade them later on for a game worth equal regular price value. There's also the Russians and Ukrainians that do it for a living because games there are really cheap. Most $50 games are around $20 to $30 for them. I'm in Australia so it's the complete opposite for me. I have one dude from the Ukraine on my friends list that I send paypal cash to and he gifts me games. Also got US friends that help me out too. The gifting/trading option on Steam is pretty much the best thing to happen to Australians. There's no way to be scammed if you handle all trades through the Steam client. If someone wants to gift a CD Key then always redeem the key first before sending your game.

in the steam winter sale they gave away free tradeable games and they always have deals on 4 packs and stuff. so it's pretty common for people to wind up with an extra copy or something. dota 2, and cs:go were pretty popular for a while. tho trading is usually a headache since most people want something for nothing and it usually is just is better to buy the games you want outright. also you can trade team fortress 2 items for games all in the steam client.

I vote for a new thread. Stuff would just get buried in the steam thread, here everyone can post a list of what he has and wait for a pm or team friend request...

this. i tried trading on steamtrades.com and the official steam forums and it's just full of scrubs trying to rip you off. there are people there that are willing to do legit for equal games but they are greatly outnumbered
