Who is going to play? Release is anywhere from a month to a few months away - i am beyond excited. I quit shortly after TBC, and although it was a good decision (wow likely cost me 100s of thousands of poker money) to this day it was the best game ive ever played.
Human paladin all the way. Gonna farm so much AV. Who’s with me???!!!
I'm planning to play, NA PVP Alliance. Played a hunter from 05-10. Been waiting for this day for as long as I can remember and never been so hyped for a release in my life.
I think it'll be pretty popular for a week or two as people get a quick hit to relive the nostalgia, then realize they're older now with way more responsibilities and who has time for the ridiculous grinds, and that TBC and WotLK were way better. If they bring back later expansions over time like this I'd be way more likely to try out and stick with one of those.
EDIT: I never really PVPd in vanilla other than casual AV, so that may be more interesting.
Depends what you want out of it. Classic is not a rush to level cap and raid, people can play casually just fine. I am one who believes Classic will have a higher pop than Retail which is straight trash right now.
Personally I already have a raid guild and nice community that I found and am ready to go with like-minded Vanilla veterans.
World pvp was great. I have heard so many people use the nostalgia argument, and although its possible that its true (which would be a shame) im bullish on vanilla being well received. There are a lot of reasons as far as why (im listening to this dudes series on why he thinks nostalgia isnt a great argument against wow and ill link) but the main reaaon i dont think its nostalgia is that world of warcraft was the best game i ever played.
Plzinferno, +1!!! Id like to get any 2+2ers in on this that want to, 100% pvp world for me also.
Leveling was fun in vanilla. It took me so long to hit 60 on my first character; took me like 4 days with my next. Im torn between hardcore rushing or just enjoying all the storylines and reading them.
Unfortunately the people i play LoL and hots with are horde and i just cant do that. I gotta stick to the alliance.

I've gone through all the expansions and spent a ton of time on the game but won't be going back. The best times were probably BC and WotLK so I'll understand why classic servers will remain strong for 6 years or so. However, I think the game just ever so slowly got worse every expansion past WotLK (slight improvement with Pandaria); Blizzard itself has changed (Diablo Immortal for example), and the classes just got worse and worse (they gutted Protection Paladins and now their rotation is just 4 abilities IIRC).
I had fun with the game and don't regret the time I spent in it but I think I'll wait for the next best thing to come along and go with that.
Yeah me and 3 rl buddies are going to make a grind party. Horde for life. maybe we will find a 5th i hope. very psyched, my best times were BC and wotlk but i still enjoyed it. more so im excited to go back and do things i failed to do being like a 15 year old with much less knowledge.
its probably going to release in july, heres hoping.
Ive SCOURED the internet for a release date, and anyones guess is as good as mine. Theyve confirmed it will be this summer, but that could mean anything from 2 weeks to (more likely) 2 months.
Alpha testing started a month or so ago, and theyve dropped a bunch of blue posts about release schedule. I love pvping but it appears pvp rewards dont come out until phase 2, so ill probably be all about pve for months.
I'm gonna give it a shot as I was one of those guys asking for a classic wow server years and years ago, but honestly I'm not sure it's going to work. I still remember how grindy vanilla was, how long it took just to hit 40 and get your first mount, how hard it was to put raids or even dungeon runs together without dungeon finder, etc. Still hoping for the best though. I sent you a PM bobbo.
How much will WoW Classic cost?
As for cost, Blizzard has said that this server option will be free as long as you have a subscription for the current game, which costs $15 a month.
I get current subs shouldn't pay more for WoW classic
but, surely they will include something like a $5 month option for people not currently subscribed to WoW.
When you play a private server, how many players are there typically? Like are we talking 50-100 or a few thousand? Doesn't the game stop being an MMO?

the mega servers have 10k player caps (retail was like 2500) and all time zones so they are always buzzing
I actually am considering playing on a private server just to re-emmesh myself in the experience. I hope they have 10k players on a server, that would be so kickass. Altho i enjoyed lone grinding in remote areas by myself in the wee hours, the game is generally better with more people.
Way back i hit rank 9 or 10, which was a big achievement for me, this time around i think rank 11ish is a reasonable goal. The amount of work to hit 13 or 14 is absurd
It actually did start out as a guild but morphed into the go-to spot for minmaxing WoW toons. I learned more on EJ than any single site for any single game I ever played. Even their Web site is gone now /tear
