New apt & TV and setting up all the stuff and apparently I cannot get the HDTV part of my 360 to work. Xbox is off, AV connector is set to HDTV, cables in correctly colored components (yellow left hanging). I turn input to the correct component on the TV, turn on xbox, get sound, but 0 video and the TV eventually asks for video input. When I power off and switch the 360 AV connector to TV and plug the red/white & yellow into their respective spots in the TVs lowdef input and turn the xbox on and TV to that input I get video/audio fine.

I've tried looking at the system menu for display (can only do when set to TV) it says the HDTV switch is off and it is on 480p (iirc). I cannot bump it up to 1080p, it just resets back to 480p. I wrote down the steps to get to get to the 1080p from the dashboard once the xbox is on and tried selecting it (with no video, going by audio, set to HDTV) and nothing happened (at least visually).

Is it possible to have the HDTV connectors (red, green, blue) be busted here? Am I missing something obvious? If it is busted, can I just pick up cables off of monoprice or someplace cheap? It would probably be best to go HDMI xbox->TV as the TV has several HDMI slots and only 2 spots for HD connectors.

Before the xbox was plugged into the regular lowdef input and occasionally swapped w/ the Wii as the other TV only had a few HD input options which were all taken by devices w/ higher usage than the xbox. Basically saying idk if the HD connectors from the xbox ever worked, but I certainly can't get them to work now.

Any help would be appreciated if anyone has any ideas, thanks!

edit:
I've used this guide to confirm I'm not a tard and don't think it's anything obvious otherwise
Hope terminology is clear enough, if any clarification is needed please ask.

Can someone recommend at least 2-3 games for X360? I'm thinking about getting some games for Christmas. I haven't played my xbox almost all year as I just lost interest in time-wasting video games, but the commercials for Modern Warfare 2 hype have got me interested.

I'm not interested in Bioshock. I bought it for my computer and I'm just not engaged with it at all.

I am thinking maybe an action/adventure game, shooter, a game that is involved, but not too complex where it is a chore to learn, and definitely has to be fun. I want to turn it on and be blown away from how much fun and real it is and have playability where I can't wait to see what is next.

I don't think I'm interested in any sports games as I think I've gotten burned out from sports games since the first playstation/dreamcast/super nintendo days.

I like games like Call of Duty and Splinter Cell. Thanks.

Fallout 3 game of the year edition is out. Think it will fit the bill! It was game of the year for ign 2008, and the new edition comes with all 5 DLC. Very involved game and not too hard either. Great story, great graphics. Its an RPG so you have to like dialogue trees.

I quickly looked at a video/trailer of this game. Seems like too much starting and stopping. I don't think I would like Fallout 3.

Have any of you used swaptree.com? You trade games to other users that the site hooks you up with, 1-for-1. So basically you get whatever game you want (assuming you own a game of close to equal value) for like $2.50 (your cost of mailing). No value lost to auction fees or bad trade-ins. The site facilitates multi-way trades, and they also do books, CDs, and movies which you can mix and match.

I wanted to put Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction (the 2007 one) up for PS3 GTA4, which you can do, but I'm missing the manual which technically you're supposed to have. Anyone want that trade?

Buddy got a 360 earlier, Arcade edition by accident for his birthday.

Is the only thing he needs to pick up a HD? Can you even load a HD on a Arcade?

I don't know Dr. Mario but you might want to look at any of the LEGO games: StarWars, Batman, Indiana Jones. Entire game can play coop, its a very light game with some modest puzzle solving, mostly its breaking stuff and trying to find all the hidden items. Fun game to play with wife/girlfriend, don't need a huge amount of skill to play.

i could be late to this party but check out borderlands. based on your desired games i would think it has a balance of rpg/fps that you may find enjoyable. then again, i haven't even played the game so it does seem weird to recommend.

Looks cool, thanks! I signed up. Two initial bummers:

- My confirmation emails don't seem to come through and
- They don't appear to support the trading of Blu-Rays / HD DVDs

Still optimistic given the amount of unwanted media I have around the house!

Tetris Attack!!!

Handicaps, easy to learn, difficult to master, lots of fun. When you learn to start putting together chain attacks the game goes to a whole new level.

I have a 5 year old budget PC, and it can still run Dragon Age. Both MW2 and Dragon Age are absolute must plays.
