Where's the best place to take used games? Don't Blockbuster and Gamestop both buy them back?

Circuit City still sells used copies of the standard edition of Call of Duty 4 for $54.99. Complete rip-off. I counted at least 5 games on their used rack that I could buy brand new across the street at BB for 10 bucks less than CC wanted for them used.

For an actual answer to your post, eBay isn't a terrible option. You'll get actual cash instead of store credit, which is nice. The fees suck though - make up for it with inflated shipping costs like everyone else. Otherwise Craigslist is decent - you have to be fair though.

Build small (100 pt min. and as little as possible over that) castles, they are strong enough to hold down the territories adjacent to them, and they are also less expensive and can be finished quicker than larger ones. It doesn't matter that they can be taken over more easily since you're more or less screwed if it comes to you getting attacked anyway. Also build the first castle on a territory that has gold so you can increase gold output (more important than the others at the start).

When you start the game try to wall in a corner of the map so that you can conquer it as you're able to and can block out anyone else from getting to those territories.

Save games frequently and don't be quick to overwrite existing saves until you're sure it's ok. You never know when someone will make a run for the throne and start attacking. Unless you happen to get lucky and have enough time to build a huge army before you're attacked you will almost always lose. If someone attacks you reload a previous save and attack them so you can have this advantage, once you beat them once you should be able to roll through the rest of their territories easily.

Always be building a castle, mining something, adding something to military, or doing some scouting/spying. The more you level those up the faster you can complete tasks with them in the future.

As the game advances be wary of who isn't on good terms with the pope and go ahead and try to conquer all of their territories as long as it's not making the pope mad.

Damn I'm wanting to play this now where'd you download from?

Great stuff scotch, thanks. I found it on cdosabandonware.com. The games are pseudo-free downloads, they require you to visit an ad site and input info to get them. It's also on gog.com for $6.

Wait, people actually pay $56 for a used game that they can buy for $60+sales tax locally?

Warren Spector's new game is again rumored to be an "epic" Mickey Mouse platformer. Looks like I'll have to go back to my Steamboat Willie avatar.

Can anyone recommend a fun timekilling game for my laptop? Just something that you can kill a couple of hours with but will take rather long to get boring. Started playing Roller Coaster Tycoon again and that does the trick, but any other recommendations? Its a pretty old laptop so none of the newer games...

It actually shouldn't. If its making any noise when not playing games something is seriously wrong. The noise comes from the DVD drive. If the noise while playing is too much for you then then install them and it should be completely silent again.

The team that made Portal first made a game called Narbacular Drop, which uses the same basic concept. It's a free download.

I bought mine a while ago for $100 at EB Games or w/e. Pretty standard anywhere I think, though you can probably find one used for less online if you tried.

Also, got a PS3 for Christmas. Trying to get it online now and this first system update is taking forever. Maybe I'm spoiled because the ones for the 360 take less than a minute. But hey, at least it's free!
