My class has been been working on game and (software projects) the whole year. Our team is releasing our game on the 5th of may.

It's a 1-4 person space-racing game inspired heavily by the dos-classic "Wings".

Gameplay screenshot of the game. Trailer is hopefully out next week.

Games and accessories on sale, including Doom at $19.99, which I believe is a first. Plus Witcher 3 package at $30. Mostly console, maybe.

Sgt RJ, is that the BotW guide you bought?
No, I got the ultra edition or something along those lines. Did find a good deal for it on eBay, like $20 cheaper than on Amazon.

This is the one I got. It's like 7 lbs of book lol. https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-...the+wild+guide

wow

I have the $24 hardcover guide and I thought that one was fancy enough

the one you have reminds me of the 50th anniversary edition of The Hobbit I had when I was a kid

Bit of an x-post, but does anybody have experience with Fire TV and/or Roku? I'd get one of the more powerful devices, not the sticks.

Reason I ask here is because PS Vue is also a possibility, but only if people have used it on a PS4 [Pro] and can confirm it's very good. Vue on PS3 was awful - the UI was slow af, the picture looked bad and had a terrible framerate. (This is not the case on YouTube videos on the same PS3, or TV streams on my laptop.) Still, Vue would not get me ABC which I might need if I still care about the NBA playoffs by that point.

I use a Roku for Netflix and Amazon Prime and works fine for that.

I used Vue for ~a month on PS4 and posted a review, you can prob search for it. Cliffs are that I liked it and would switch to it if I got fed up enough with cable and they stopped giving me deals when I threaten to cancel.

Re: ABC - I believe they offer it (and the other Disney channels, notably ESPN) now? I think the Dubs will take care of your playoff worries tho, if Memphis/Houston don't do it first

The way the broadcast network stations work on Vue is if the network itself owns the local station in your market, Vue offers live TV, If it's an affiilate station they offer next day on demand programming.

Ya I think I checked and Vue didn't have ABC (live at least) in SF.

Was hoping my playoff woes would be over by Saturday but no dice.

I have vue and absolutely love it. It has my local ABC live, just depends on which area you are in..

I also prefer using a fire TV box to watch vue over the Playstation itself. Easier to use a remote vs the ps4 controller.

Fire sticks work but are very slow navigating the guide.

I miss video games having manuals. Seems like at least 90% of new games that come out these days have no instruction manual of any kind wgen you buy it physically. It's just a the case and the CD. This trend is more recent than you would think. The other day I went through my PS3 library and almost every game had a pretty decent manual. Only towards the last few years of the PS3 generation did you begin to see games coming bare.

I understand that it's to keep costs down and all that info is available online and digital games sales are only growing every year, but still, instruction manuals not only provided you a concise and immediate set of reference material without having to seek it out, but you got cool artwork and little lore stories and stuff.

The Witcher 3 came with a manual, map, stickers, all the old school stuff you'd expect. Only PS4 game I've got that did so (not counting DS3 which came with some stuff only because I got the special day one edition, otherwise it comes bare).

When produced in bulk how expensive is a manual even going to be? Like 25 cents? Charge me an extra buck and include a damn manual.

Not as nice obv, and I realize this isn't much different from "available online" - but a good few PS4 games have a manual accessible by down on the d-pad from their tile on the dash.

25 cents to print maybe but printing isn't the only step for production. They need a writer, an artist, a consultant and translation. Then they need to go through marketing etc who will make suggestions and mark changes that need to be made. With the price of games production continuing to go up while games prices stay the same, it kind of makes sense to just not do manuals at all.

With that said, I still get disappointed when I open a new game and there's nothing in there but the disc. I don't expect anything but it's still a let down, especially with Nintendo games.

I haven't bought a physical game since Starcraft 2 but quite a few Steam games have digital manuals that can be accessed by right clicking the title and going to 'properties'.

I'm guessing the lack of both physical and digital manuals is more related to how gamers now expect to get that information, rather than the cost of the manual.

Most gamers expect the game to teach you how to play in-game. Also, with technology getting better, there's less need for an external manual to set/expand the story and atmosphere of a game.

People would rather use the youtubes than read a manual anyways.

Here's the problem with manuals: if the game is designed well you shouldn't need a manual.

Patches are probably one of the reasons physical manuals fell off. Given how dramatically a game can change from release, the info in the manual could potentially get out of date.

Regardless, the major thing I like about manuals isn't the info they contain, but rather how it sort of completes or enhances the experience of purchasing or owning a game.

That's pretty damn hipster I know.

Guess I'm a hipster too. When I purchased lunar and ff6 remakes for Playstation I was so excited to see that they came with a cloth map or even a fold out paper one.

Even thought completely unnecessary it does add a lot imo

Well for older and more obtuse games manuals were both necessary and an extra added pleasure. I must have read the fat manual for Might and Magic on the Genesis 100 times as a kid. Dominions 3, which I bought maybe 8 years ago, had the last great manual I had seen - spiral bound, over 300 pages - but the game is way more complex than you're average AAA title.
