You're not gonna have much better luck online either.

Best bet is to check the Sunday ads. If Best Buy, Target, and Toys R Us say they will have it in stock, then they will definitely have it in stock on Sunday morning. If you don't get the Sunday paper, go to http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...splay.php?f=11 (need to be registered to access the page). They post the Sunday ads ahead of time, so you can know ahead of time if the store will have it in stock.

FYI, both Circuit City and Best Buy have it in their ad today. If you're lucky, they haven't sold out yet.

Hey guys.

For some reason my guitar hero gibson controller isnt being recognised by my 360. I hit the wireless button, hit the xbox guide button. Nothing. Anyone ever had a similar problem or know of a fix?

Thanks in advance

AC

A slightly redesigned 360 controller dropping this fall in Germany, difference being the D-Pad using an 8 point system instead of 4, making it more responsive.

Interesting that they'd bother but I guess there's demand for it.

The 360's stock D-Pad really is terrible, it becomes especially evident when playing SF II on it.

Damn, just sat down to relax on the 360 for a bit and was greeted by three unfriendly looking red lights.

Ah well, I have a bunch of old PS2/Gamecube era games to catch up on I guess.

I'm just getting into playing Super Metroid that I downloaded from the Wii Shop and it holds up surprisingly well. I might have to play the Prime games on GCN that I missed (played Corrupion on Wii and loved it).

Diminishing returns imo. The tech will obviously be there for completely photorealistic games, but I don't think that's the direction games will go in because of $$$. Everybody knows Moore's law, but the increaingly important 'law' is Wirth's: software gets slower faster than hardware gets faster. I think we'll see more gameplay improvements than graphical improvements. Like completely interactive/destructable nonpolygonal environments (real time raytracing ftw), and new methods of interaction/immersion.

Sony already has a patent on a brain interface geared at complete neural immersion such that you could actually smell, even feel/taste/etc in environments simulated entirely in your head as you just veg out. It would be insane if that ever developed into reality, and probably pretty bad for the progress of humanity as a whole. But damn would it be fun.

Is it worth driving 70 miles each way for a Wii, or does somebody know a secret trick on how to get one in Austin?

Also, all the consoles still come with Wii Sports right?

I think someone was also developing telepathy in video games where they put on a helmet thing and thought about lifting / moving objects and it actually did it on the screen. Would be pretty cool to also have hands free stuff that reacted to your thoughts.

Just call all the stores and ask them when they usually get them in. Also, if you order a bundle from Walmart.com, I believe you can keep the games sealed if you don't want them. I think you can bring back every piece you don't want actually. Also an FYI, the bundle I bought listed a WII remote and nunchuck, but what I didn't realize was that they were in addition to the ones inside the console. I ordered from there, and it came 5 days before the estimated delivery date.

Yes, it still comes with Wii Sports.

As for getting one, as I posted earlier on this page, the Sunday ads show when Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys R Us have the Wii in stock. You can see the Sunday ads early at http://www.cheapassgamer.com/

I found mine using Gamestop's online inventory checker. Unfortunately, the link no longer works.

Also, we had a thread dedicated to finding the Wii:

Yea gus I checked out cheapassgamer's Sunday ads, unfortunately none of them advertise Wii's for this week, so it would be at least two Sundays of waiting if I go that route.

Flytrap, so you're saying any sealed piece of those stupid bundles I don't want I can just return for full price at the actual store? Have you read reports on people doing this?

Might all be moot, as I was typing this I got a text from Amazon that they'll be available in a few minutes. I texted back "buywii", which is what you do to auto-buy one. We'll see if it got through in time.

Successfully bought one through Amazon, no bundle no tax no shipping. Estimated receipt won't be for a couple of weeks, but they always come through earlier than they say.

Definitely sign up for their text alert and text ordering service if you want one, and just text them back right away when they text you that they're in stock.

Has anyone here played Professor Layton and the Curious Village on DS? It's pretty fun. But I feel stupid since a lot of these puzzles are quite difficult imo.

I have Professor Layton. At first I insisted on never using the hint coins, and it was a big rush to finally solve a puzzle after working on it for an hour or more. But then I realized I was spending way too much time on it and started using the coins. I still haven't beaten it.

Anyone know if it is possible to transfer data from one 360 hard-drive to another?

Quick googling makes it looks like you need a memory card or a "data migration kit."

I'm gonna assume flash drives don't work right?
