They've changed the name of the degree since I was there but it's still the same crap. I was at the Melbourne campus. The facilities were so average and by the time I had finished most of the lecturers that actually had decent industry experience had left. The whole curriculum was a joke. There was standard programming, 3D modeling and design theory courses. Nothing you couldn't teach yourself in a few weeks with some reading. Then there was these bull**** filler courses like Introduction to Audio which was basically learning how to cut up an audio file in pro tools.
I'm just stubborn and have to finish things I start. It wasn't for nothing though, it got me started in that industry and made me valuable contacts. Plus there was free software and tickets to events like GCAP. I was a video editor full time, saved a decent amount of cash and wanted to give that industry a shot. I finished a year and a half ago and have done some freelance stuff on a couple of small indie games. I'm working in a team of 4 on our first game while still working my old job part time. I can't even compare the amount of what I've learned while actually working compared to doing that bull**** degree.
