So why did Quick Time Events work in RE4? Were they particularly well done or just rare enough? Or was it the fact that they were new?

They were likely the worst part of the game. There weren't too many of them, and most of them were part of boss battles. But there were only a couple of button combos that you would be pushing (gamecube version my reference) so once you saw a few of them, you were quasi ready. You were still a huge favorite to die the first time you saw them, but the save point was usually not too far back to make it a huge chore.

Also, QTEs make playing the game drunk impossible.

The button was random, but when the button came up was not.

I played for a few hours yesterday with no problems, but now, today, I get a crash every ten minutes or so. I don't know how to use this program, but this is what it looked liked right after a crash:

Thanks for your help!

Looks like you downloaded the Pro version which doesn't show power consumption and temps other than gpu and storage. Try the latest non pro build.

Your GPU temps are hot at the min but didn't get much higher at max, but not concerning, so I would just be worried that your PSU 12v and 3.3v rails are operating around where they should at load. People always poopoo these voltage readings from the mobo and say to use a multimeter, but your mobo should still be able to pick up on a major problem, the added resistance between the PSU and mobo monitoring isn't enough to obscure major voltage problems I think.

Alright, once more with one more crash:

Guess your mobo doesn't have a voltage monitoring chip. And if those temps on your GPU are after playing WoW for a bit you're fine, would only be worried if they were climbing over 70c. You could buy a multimeter to test yourself, but that's half the price of a decent new PSU. No other advice for you other than bite the bullet and take it in to a PC repair shop, or try and find a friend with a PC you can use to swap parts with and diagnose, or upgrade.

Those temps are after a crash. High temps occur DURING a game, not after it.

Anyway, voltage problems cause a pc shutdown not a game crash.

Thanks, guys. I'll do some googling and try to replace the PSU so I can replace the video card this weekend.

you can generally safely assume that whatever the max temp is, it happened during the game. look at that column.

I'd bet he opend the program after the game, not before.

a 3 'C change on a GPU on min specs is impossible.

2048 looks a little better to me, if only cause Threes makes it look easier to get stuck with a bunch of annoying 1s and 2s chilling around on a full board that you can't get together. Also because I'm a programming nerd.

Saints Row IV, Infamous, and Prototype have all shown it's totally possible to do a good superpowers game. I'm not sure why it's been easier for developers to do it with original IP while their Spiderman/Superman/etc. games are just tired rehashes.

It might be easier because there is a freedom with a brand new IP as well as the studios getting the famous characters are likely over the hill already.

- Name all the good games based on comic books
- Name all the good games based on movies and tv shows
- Name all the good movies based on video games

The reality is that Arkham Asylum/City and Injustice are outliers. This is for a variety of reasons, particularly the cost of obtaining the IP (if a studio is spending $X on a game and spends $Y on IP that games will have $Y smaller a development budget than a competing studio also spending $X on a game), being constrained by restrictions on the IP, over-reliance on the IP to sell the game and dumbing down/lowest common denominatoring the game for the IP's perceived audience.

Except Injustice totally blows. It's good for maybe six hours of fun, after that it feels like an incomplete game with a lot of flash. I realize it's "just a fighter," but there's no depth or replayability at all; it's simply the same fight over and over.
