I'd recommend The Longest Journey or Sanitarium over these, both available at GOG. TLJ's name is accurate with regard to playing time, and Sanitarium is more "mature" and scary (your typical amnesiac in a mental hospital with different creepy dimensions story). They're a few years older than Syberia but the graphics are pretty much the same since the genre stopped evolving at around that time.

I actually liked FF9 the most outta the PSx final fantasy's. Probably because it reminded me a lot of FF4 and I thought that Zidane > Squall/Cloud. I actually really liked all the characters in FF9 as opposed to really hating Zell and Rinoa in FF8 and really only liked Cid/Barrett/Vincent from FF7.

Agreed. Vivi was the man. The weapons/dungeons/towns where above every other final fantasy game.

I see you have purchased super mario 64. Excellent choice sir. However, would I suggest you buy another controller when you smash your current one into the wall while attempting the rainbow road level trying to get all the stars?

During last school year I replayed mario 64 going for all stars and got them in a total time of like 15 hours and was semi proud of myself. Rainbow level not nearly bad as clock one...imo.

Spoiler:
Jumping into the painting at the right time is key. Also really key for water level if you want to beat the game with somewhat speed.

Mario 64 = GOAT, nothing else comes close.

Massive case of nostalgia from looking at the n64 pic.

I broke down and got this. Haven't played a PC game for years [yeah, LOL@me whatever]. Can someone walk me through, or link me to the post [I remember there being one I'm just horrible at technology/using the search method] that walks me through how to mod this thing and what mods I should be using? Most layman terms possible would be preferable as I said I am terrible with technology and there's a good chance I end up PM'ing one of you geniuses after I try to mod it and fail anyway

See the "So I just started Oblivion..." thread, lots of discussion on modding in there (towards the end).

Just got an email from Best Buy. Big game sale. Just skimmed it because I have plenty of games I've barely started, but here were some notables:

Brutal Legend: $4.99
Fallout NV: $9.99
Civilization IV: $14.99
Bioshock 2: $15.99

I skimmed through the whole list of games for $40 and under and it looks like you nailed the best ones. Although Civ IV for $15 can't be that far off whatever its normal price is with V out now.

I think I've posted on here that my 360 red ringed again, this time out of warranty.

Someone offered me a quarter stick of dynamite for the 4th of July. If I'd been anywhere near a place that allowed that kind of thing (or somewhere where they wouldn't hear it) I would have taken it and blown my 360 to smithereens.

Unless you're not American. It's the 4th of July you're not going to arrested for lighting off a blockbuster. Most states don't really allow fireworks but it doesn't actually stop people from lighting the.

Just an FYI since we're on the subject (kind of).

My early-adopter PS3 got the YLOD a few weeks ago. I replaced it with a new model, but needed the data from my old machine. Sony's repair would cost $150, take several weeks, erase my data and send me back a random refurb. Not wanting to go that route, I tried several things I found on Google/YouTube with no results, including running a hot hair dryer into the vent for 20 minutes.

Then I found this one-man PS3/Xbox/iPhone repair place which advertised a fix for $50, including free reflows (fixing the solder on the motherboard, basically) for the life of the console. I went there today, and it's little more than a closet in the back of a barber shop. But the dude was nice, and had everything fixed within an hour. He charges $40 for the RROD.

On the Internet, the best fixes say they're good for 5 minutes to four months. This guy said he gets about 1 in 20 back for another reflow, and said I should be good for at least a year, and most likely a lot longer.

Cliffs:

-- Only morans try fixing their PS3 with a hairdryer.
-- For console repairs, find a good third-party guy.
-- I have two PS3s.

Here is your random thread!
Hello all computer and game specialists. Let's compile all of our knowledge about the Xbox360 and its (terrible service) to fix my Red Ring of Death Xbox360 that Microsoft wants $100+ to first look at lol. Lets compile a step by step manual on how to fix this ****.
I don't want to hear about the bs towel trick... already tried it and it didn't work...
I want to hear step by step instructions involving something along the lines of this:
A start would be to take it apart, clean the board, remove the heatsinks from the main chips, and reassemble using new thermal paste (arctic silver). If that doesn't help, or just winds up being temporary, you have to either reflow the chips, or reball them. You might want to remove the xclamps and use bolts and washers instead. You need a torx 10 and a torx 8 to take the xbox apart. Use google to find out procedures to do this stuff.

Pic by pic instructions or a video would be ideal.

Let the smartest person in this thread win. GO!!!!
