It was a lot like Heavenly Sword for me, some beautiful spots, some awesome moments of satisfaction early in, then you you quickly realize how shallow and boring it is. Hope it's not a continued pattern in the bigger PS3 exclusives.

Well the IGN review of GTA4 is up and it got a 10/10 which is ridiculous since that almost never happens. (The only other games to get 10/10 from IGN are OOT and Soul Caliber). So yeah, I'll be getting GTA

well, i just got it like 2 weeks ago.

i thought the gunplay was pretty satisfactory, head shots are very cool. the ending gets pretty lame though.

the story is nothing to write home about, and it gets the job done. the platforming was kinda meh, but it still was very exciting. the game is very much demo material to show off your hardware though. i beat it in about 2 days and i have no desire to play it again anytime soon, as $60 not worth it, but around $30-$40 its definatly worth it imo.

Okay, so my 360 is flashing red when I switch it on. It worked fine last night. I left the power on at the wall overnight (the console itself was switched off, but I accidently left the power pack on). I have done this before with no problems. When I turn it on, the power pack (or whatever you call it) goes green, and at first the console turns on the green light, then about 5 seconds pass and I see the evil red.

I tried unplugging everything and then plugging it back in but no dice.

What's the best line with this type of thing? Is it likely to randomally fix itself sometime soon? I'll be pissed if GTA4 arrives in the mail and the 360 isn't working.

Sigh. I remember when the beauty of consoles was that they never broke down and you could just chuck your disc in and play while the PC was collapsing.

Been playing the sh*t out of Brawl and now Mario Kart and GTA4 is coming out. Don't know when I'll see the light of day again. Lucky Blizzard isn't releasing SC2 anytime soon or I'd be dead from playing 108 hours straight.

Ten golden rules of videogame fanboyism

Don't know if any of you older gamers remember the game show Starcade. Game show for kids playing arcade games. I used to love this show, even though it was mostly cheesy.

I don't think I've ever wanted a game to be good more than this.

This is a new football game, Backbreaker, coming out sometime this year, and that's supposedly real time footage captured in game. It's being made by a company that licenses the animation system used, it's some sort of bone and muscle system controlled by AI so that animations aren't played back but are generated in game. Logically, it's probably going to look awesome and play like ****, considering all they've released is videos showing off the animation technology, but considering how NCAA and Madden have barely evolved since the PS2 days, I so want this to be good. An actual pocket and defensive backs that realistically react to the ball, that's all I ask.

What are the big releases for the rest of 2008? Metal Gear Solid 4 in June. Anything else?

I randomly got inspired to fire up Oblivion again for the first time in a couple years; I'm finding it really hard to not be frustrated though given how weak new characters are. I had a way-high-level character I spent a ton of time on back in the day, but my 360 RRODed and when I returned it to swap Best Buy made me give up the HD as well and I lost him forever

It'd be nice to get a solid character again so I can play the expansions, which I never got a chance to do.

Since I've forgotten all this ****, can someone remind me:
- Where can I learn a spell that'll reduce my encumbrance a lot?
- Where can I get a quick 5k gold so I can buy a fast Cheydinhal horse?

I loved Morrowind so much.

About 5 times now I've tried to play Oblivion, and for whatever reason it never grabs me. I always lose interest right after getting Martin to the Blades place.


Oh, and I still highly recommend Psychonauts. I almost want to buy it twice just to show the devs some love.

I played Rock Band over the weekend for the first time, and wasn't too impressed. Yes it can be fun if you get 3+ people together, but if you can get that maybe once a month, you are doing better than average. Playing the drums makes me feel like a 3 year old banging on pots and pans...loud and annoying.

Ryan, have you tried putting off the main quest line? Doing guild quests and random other **** is plenty of fun too.

Also, I got a big boost towards my horse last night thanks to Glarthir - sucker paid me 1000 gold just for killing Davide Surilie (the ****ty winemaker from Skingrad)! TY FISH!

Most guys I know that were obsessed with Morrowind don't really dig Oblivion it seems. I definitely second the notion to just explore the world and dick around with side quests, I think my final hour tally in Oblivion was 90ish hours, and I never beat the game cuz I thought the main quest was stupid.

Not positive how much they were worth exactly, but check out the outside of the Stadium, there's a chick and a guy fist fighting, go there at night and pick the chest there, there's some enchanted fist fighting gear in there thats worth a few k I think. I'm trying to remember other good places but it's not coming to me. Hope your lockpicking skills are still intact

EDIT: Oh yea, I forget how much the lockbox in the stadium has, 500 or 1k?

Ninja Gaiden 2 drops a few days before or after, if you're into that kind of thing. Hopefully Fallout 3 for the holidays. I can't think of any others atm

Did love all the guild stuff in Morrowind, so yeah I probably would like those parts in Oblivion.

Aside from the whole level scaling thing, I think it's something about the world that doesn't do it for me. Morrowind was like this whole detailed, almost alien world. Even with all the stuff around to remind me it was a game, it always felt like a real place to me.

After exploring Oblivion a while my sense of the world: "Hmm, standard."
