Ok I really want to play Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and according to the SRT test, my computer can handle it. However, when I try to start the demo, it crashes and says 'FATAL ERROR: Renderer #0 could not be initialized! Make sure your graphic card drivers are up to date. Check log file for more information.'

My graphics card driver is up to date, so any thoughts on wtf the problem is?

Did you check the log ?

There isn't an option to check the log, and even if I could I probably wouldn't understand it.

Now I remember why I moved to console gaming. Not as innovative as PC gaming, but a hell of a lot simpler.

You should probably try to get it for 360 rather than PC. Your character carries over. There are some decisions in ME that directly affect ME2. I would wait to play ME first. The beginning of ME2 might ruin the ending of ME for you.

the log is a txt file in the game directory, mostly called crash log or something like that. And I already knew you wouldn't understand it; I meant you to post a link to the damn log here so I can take a look.

Since I couldn't play GTAIV, I started up Mass Effect. I always feel like I'm making the wrong decisions with character upgrades and such. Oh well. I put in a couple hours and am enjoying it. I'm at the part somewhat early on where I just

Spoiler:
got control of the ship after becoming a Spectre
.

I'm worried it's going to get to the point now where I get bored with it. The exploring aspect. I know I'm uncommon in that, but I just like the main story usually. Running around like an idiot forever or getting all completionist gets boring for me.

Lol, thanks anyway but I have got The Settlers: Rise of an Empire to play now so I am happy with that Oddly SRT test said I couldn't play it, but it plays fine, albeit at slightly reduced quality settings.

got my kid a set of "turtle beach" headphones for his PS3, i'm having some issues connecting them to the machine, can anyone help me?

PS3 connected to TV by HDMI - no audio cables needed

"turtle beach" needs to be connected with audio cables = listening to the TV instead of the game

there is no headphone jack on PS3 (is there?).

is this what you have?

I remember reading somewhere that the Turtle Beach had to use the composite audio that came out the back of the PS3. So if you have HDMI running to your TV for Audio/Video, you still need the composite/component set of cables with the audio running to the headset with the video cables just unplugged. I can't say for sure since I don't own them, but I think I remember reading that somewhere.

Edit: Yeah what rsigley said. I afk'd and didn't see his response.

just got is sorted now, thanks.

Had to connect a Xrocker bean bag at the same time which made it much easier. I probably should have just read the instructions instead of looking at the pictures

So, Mass Effect (1) is pretty awesome. Who knew? Like with KoToR, I'm having trouble caring much about the weapons or abilities, but I really like the storyline, cut scenes, and movie nature of the game. Maybe some day I'll care more about which upgrades to use for my armor and which abilities to get, but I just struggle to grasp it all. There's so much there.

Fun game.

After listening to loads of Harry Potter on tape while on holiday, I went into WoW and made a warlock, only to be completely deflated by the experience. (I've played one before, but not for a while)

Lots of curses and spells and such, but it's all "Click this button once to cast spell" stuff. Didn't really mesh well with the idea I'd had. So how about for a magic combat system you have 3 words or word parts to a spell, you have to type them out or select them or something, with a shorter time limit for each part, and after doing that, you use the mouse to wave a wand in a certain way, kinda like how (i think) black and white did it, only waving wrong would have consequences, as would misspelling or mis-selecting.

Thoughts?

So while you type, a rogue has you already stunned, a warry has already charged and you have already been silenced.

And you haven't even finished your first part of your spell yet.

LOL donkaments. PS3 used to support linux as an alternate OS, but they removed the functionality. this pissed of the hacking community leading to a lolworthy exploit being found in the PS3 security.

basically they end up with a encryption system that fails epically due to a random number not being random at all. xD

Yeah, kind of like that, but better.

Who wants to code and animate this for me? I'll split the cash 50/50.
