Breitbart comment bingo.

Luckily you don't have to stay in the cesspool too long, as you can usually fill out the whole card within a few comments.

Obduction came out recently by the Miller brothers that made Myst and Riven, I haven't gotten very far but seems like a modern reinterpretation.

Adventure games have gone in a few different directions, but look at the Daedalic publisher's catalogue on Steam for the Deponia series, The Dark Eye series and a few others. Wadjet Eye makes some good more traditional adventure games like Primordia (haven't played the others except the Shivah which was very short but good).

He might like some more mystery and puzzle oriented adventure games like the Frogware developed Sherlock Holmes games (recommend he start with The Testament of Sherlock Holmes), or the Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Good pure puzzle games are anything by Matthew Brown, particularly Hexcells (and Hexcells Plus and Infinite). People have already mentioned The Witness and Talos Principle, those are both good semi-adventure puzzle games in the same mold, I might add The Room series and maybe Infinifactory. The Witness doesn't really require any dexterity, but Talos Principle does to a certain extent, so I'd look at The Witness first.

Remember the Steam Summer Sale starts tomorrow and lasts usually for a few weeks, most games get a decent discount though less deep as of the last few years.

Haha you quoted the only game not made by them Gemini Rue and The Blackwell series are some very good old-school adventure games by them and are worth a play (but you have to like the genre). If you want to stay on the genre, I'll also throw the remastered Broken Sword series into the hat (1, 2 and 5 are the good ones), as they are probably some of the best around imho.

Also, the steam sale starts today.

Cradle is another option.

EDIT: Of course Myst and its sequals are also on Steam.

Syberia is another series to check out.

I started playing Assassin's Creed III. I'd forgotten, this was the one where people talked about the "tutorial" or intro missions before you even get the main character being like 5-10 hours long?

It's kinda hard to play this and think about the "good art" I'm missing out on (movies, shows, etc.) by wasting my time. Do other people struggle with this?

(I have this a bit in general though, I never want to settle on watching/playing one thing because then I think about all the other things I'm losing precious time with.)

As far as the Assassin's Creed series goes play AC2 and Black Flag and skip everything else imo.

AC3 made me legit angry with how bad it was. I lasted about 10-12 hours before quitting.

I haven't played Syndicate but I'm interested in trying it. I'm really excited for Origins though. I've wanted an open world Egypt game for a long time, hope they don't botch it.

Hang on... you liked AC1? A lot?

I liked it more than most because I liked the setting so much I tolerated the repetitive gameplay. I definitely liked the Ezio games a lot apart from Revelations which was ok.

I really liked AC2 and Black flag. The first one was terrible though - aside from being so repetitive, getting pointlessly pulled out of the game for all the Animus-stuff broke the setting too. "Hey, I'm an awesome assassin flying off a... oh wait... load screen... oh, that's right. I'm just some dork in hospital gown and a vr-machine...".

All three Ezio games were pretty good. AC1 sucked but by the time AC3 came out the series seemed like it was trending the right direction.

Then it completely fell apart.

My buddy has an Xbox one and wants me to buy one so we can play games at night and stuff. My interest in games/time available has waned considerably over the last couple years, but my favorite games include starcraft 2, heroes of the storm, Geometry wars from the 360 (that game was sweet), Fallout, Sim City, stuff like that. StarCraft probably being favorite game of all time.

Is it worth buying the Xbox one and shelling out probably $600 for the console and games? He pretty much only plays FIFA/NBA/call of duty, I am not a big fan of going to sports events but not sure how much fun they are to play as a video game, haven't played since Madden 99 and NFL BLITZ, which to be fair was pretty sweet.

Think i'm going to get use out of this, or is it going to rust in the corner? Xcom2 looked fun but that's not multiplayer and I can just buy that on PC. Destiny looked interesting too but only with friends and he doesn't have much interest in playing that with me apparently.

Does anyone know what kind of software people use for capturing video games and their voiceovers for stuff like YouTube?

Dunno if OBS is open source but it's free. I've used it to stream poker before.
