I realized the other day the #1 factor for whether or not I enjoy a streamer is simply authenticity.

Streamers who put on ridiculously fake acts and personas are the absolute worst. It's like watching pro wrestling at that point.

I'd rather the streamer barely interact with the viewers at all and 'keep it real' than put on all the fake ****.

The most entertaining are those that interact with viewers and still manage to keep it authentic.

The fake gamer girls are often the worst offenders of this but dudes can do it to. I mean, Pewdipie or whatever is the most famous streamer there is and his act is the most phony **** in the world. I guess there's a reason his main audience is like 12 year olds.

lol, drdisrespect defiantly falls under the category of fake and over the top, but god damn I love tuning in sometimes. The **** that comes out of his mouth is so funny and the game he plays is just so bad.

if you like platforming speedrunners or are even vaguely interested in that, darbian is amazing. he's not very interesting of a person, but his gameplay is just off the charts insane. he regularly breaks world records on stream, it's like a hobby for him. his main game and claim to fame is super mario bros.

meh h1z1 isnt that bad

i mean the mechanics (and graphics tbh) are pretty bad and **** but the game is good and especially for streamers its one of the best

i also think drdisrespect is funny.

i like watching the guys like joshOG or summit because the best part is the money that just keeps streaming in, it's so sick. this is the dream job of dream jobs for me...entertain thousands of people by playing video games and people pay by the sentence to communicate with you.

Yeah some streamers do incredibly well. Guys like qtpie and Sneaky who stream LoL just have an endless stream of $4.20 and $4.19 donations coming in almost every minute. And qtpie at least interacts a lot more, streamers like Sneaky just barely do anything with their chat or subs. The ones who have struck it big on Twitch have really struck it big.

Watched all of this and agree with almost all of it. I never speed ran anything but I used to watch it a lot and in the last 2 years or so it just seems like it's been slowly dying. The video nailed it because for me it's been a mix of favourite runners quitting, GDQ having no soul and a general lack of quality content.

Without watching any of it (yet), if the topic is speedrunning dying - personally, it seemed like there was a small window of time where "omg puncay/siglemic is on TEH URN" was a cool exciting thing, but ultimately only has a limited lifespan before you're like "ok I've spent enough time watching people play Mario 64 and this getting a little boring". Things like GDQ being uninteresting or whatever seemed to flow (again, just for me & my perspective and this wouldn't apply to people that were super into speedrunning) from that point of the novelty wearing off, rather than the latter being a cause of the former.
