I think they are different games, but they are both going in the same direction of what Diablo 3 should have been.

I haven't played PoE since their open beta, but the one thing I liked about it was that they constantly had contests and ladder races going. The thing I really don't like about PoE is how there is an attack delay. It's not fluid and responsive like Diablo or Torchlight. Also, the minimap overlay is awful. I really hope they fix it, but every time I see it open it looks unfinished.

Torchlight is fun because it pushes you towards exploring. It's challenging and boss fights are actually, for the most part, difficult, and cause you to have to kite and try to dodge the boss attacks.

Neither game is centralized around a currency so gearing up is rewarding.

I liked PoE when I tried it during the open beta, including the schitzo skill tree and I keep thinking about buying in to the beta but prolly not while I'm still playing Torchlight 2. I do think there's plenty of room for both of them.

If someone would put together a non-cartoony skin for Torchlight 2 it'd be a top-10 all time game for me (or close).

started yesterday and rolled an engineer.
have no idea what do level up,it seems there is no primary stat and you can go about the way you want.
looked at wikia but no much content there.

finally beat the game on veteran, hardcore .... took about about 5 attempts

died stupidly at level 7 on hardcore running out of pot.
can´t have a more stupid death I was doing the raise the totems event with an embermage which seems simpler to build as putting points in focus seems the way to go.
think I´m gonna stick to hardcore opposed at D3 where I focused on SC.

haven´t played much yet but I´ll finish this game for sure.

btw is there any pvp and how you get it?

So, I played the original Torchlight for about eight hours... I sort of had fun, and I kept thinking, "wow, this is a pretty good game" but it just seemed really repetitive. There seemed to be more value in making existing skills more efficient than in getting new skills that did basically the same thing as previous ones.

I guess that's a pretty subjective opinion looking for an equally subjective answer: Is Torchlight 2 less like that?

For those that love Torchlight 2, do you love it because you think, "I loved Torchlight 1, and now I get MORE!" or "Wow, this is such an improvement over the first game!"
