So if Im a huge skyrim fan, is this the game for me? Never played any of the first 2

Skyrim is one of my favorite gaming experiences. Witcher 2 was very fun, but it was fundamentally a very different type of game. It was much more story driven (basically a playable movie with dialogue choices that legitimately affected the plot path), completely different fighting style, and decidedly not open world. Witcher 3, however, appears to be combining the usual Witcher style into an open world format. I'd say it's an easy purchase.



One thing to note, is the combat system in Witcher is way more fluid, and IMO fun, than Skyrim. Also, it's similar to Dark Souls in that it requires more skill and thinking than most other games' combat systems, which made it more engaging for me and rewarding when beating a tough boss.

Sounds like a win win pretty much. Trying not to watch much as I like completely fresh point of view on games, but theres videos every where now.

Been revisiting the books while getting hyped for release and really have to recommend reading 'The Last Wish', even if you don't want to get too heavily into the books.

It's a stand-alone collection of short stories set before the main series and they're really excellent.

Where the main series can drag on a bit at times with some politics and "high level intrigue", 'The Last Wish' is pure monster slaying fun.

Cool, funny, easy to read and sets the atmosphere for stepping into Geralts world perfectly.

Conan acting alpha is really uncomfortable to watch.

This is my first witcher game, is it worth going playing 1/2? Are they even playable now or just dated?

1 is great and 2 is awesome - both well worth playing.

2 holds up very well - been a long time since I played 1 so can't really say how that'll look today. Combat was a bit wonky in that one iirc.

They are both playable, I just reinstalled Witcher 1 and am going to play through 1 & 2 before playing through 3. Witcher 2 came out in 2011 so is relatively new.

If you don't want to play through the first 2 you can just look at story recaps on youtube.

Looks like I'm going to need to finally upgrade my computer. My GTX 460s are aging, best video cards I've ever owned.

Just finished 1 and it's the most fun I've had with a game this year despite some serious flaws. It has also taken me six years to come around to liking the game after giving it a go twice before. Just grin and bear it through the first hour if you decide to give it a go.

Haven't played 1 in forever but played through 2 last year and it holds up really well

Any games this is comparable to? Watched him walk around the city and it looked kind of cool.

30 reviews in on Metacritic and the game has a score of 92 right now, with Gamestop giving it 10/10. Looks like it's going to be as brilliant as advertised.

Anyway- the biggest thing I got from the light spoilers was that the game has 36 different endings...that's pretty cool for replay value.

Peeps asking if it's worth it to play through 1&2...
yes- they are both good games.they aren't ' open world' like this one though.they have great story lines.the first one-people bitch about the sword fighting mechanics.you have to time syncand roll around but you get used to it.the beginning teaches you how as it leads you through a story.

Plus if you play through all of them- you can import your geralt and in this one he will be treated according to how you played the first games decision wise.
This is the first time a witcher game isn't just a pc release but is also PlayStation and Xbox-
I think they will finally get the recognition they deserve.

Plus another book comes out next year too.

Impressions??

Just got done with a few hours, very impressed.
Playing on pc, ultra everything to start, dropping down to 35fps at points sucked dong, so I turned off hairplay and set shadows to low, 60fps after that.

Game world itself is insanely detailed, and attention to detail on quests seem great.

Can't say for sure about combat yet ( havnt done enough/progressed enough ), but it seems ok.

What video card do you have?

Supposed to get this from Dell with my new pc, they are ****ing around and haven't sent a code or the game yet. Starting to get pissed
