Will there be a protocol droid class?

This game looks awesome. However, I'm not sure I'd be prepared to play another MMORPG after WoW. They eat my soul and make me more of a hermit than usual.

Probably not the first to post something like this, but I have a co-worker who is involved in the alpha testing. If you have specific questions, let me know.

He is loving the game and is a MMO vet. One thing he told me that I found odd is the attack mode isn't automated, so you have to keep hitting the melee button for example. I also think he told me that you can't queue up attack chains.

He said the story and music are incredible. He didn't think he was going to choose the jedi class right out of the gate because everybody was going to be one. He's cautiously optimistic that they'll hit a release date this year.

Are they going to be using some of the characters and plot threads from the first two games, or is this pretty much separate? Loved the first two games but not really interested in playing another MMO.

If they aren't in Beta yet I think it's incredibly unlikely it will be out this year.

I'm really worried that this game is destined for failure, primarily to its (apparent) intention on sticking with the WoW-inspired tank-healer-dps dynamic. I really want it to be good, and I will definitely give it an honest chance, but I have my doubts...

I keep getting the vibe that this game is being guided behind the scenes in a kind of committee-by-focus-group way. If that makes sense. They seem reluctant to provide any real gameplay details to the masses beyond carefully controlled demos that appeal to the more casual base. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it is running the risk of being too generic without taking any risks or pushing any kind of design envelope.

I received the pre-order email this morning and in a moment of weakness said **** it I'll buy it. Go to the pre-order page and its $60 for the regular game, $80 for the Digitial Deluxe.

Never will I ever again pre-order an MMO. Too much can go wrong.

Asking price for collectors edition was lolcrazy.
