I'm guessing since there has been no thread that this hasn't exactly wowed the masses. A metacritic score of 3.8 by users would also seem to suggest that.

I have played exactly one PS4 game over the last year - MLB The Show, but have missed playing golf a bit and was hoping this was decent. I also looked up "The Golf Club" but that doesn't look to great either according to reviews.

Did anyone pick this up?

I almost picked it up on release as I was itching for a good golf game on PS4. I'm glad I didn't after reading some reviews. No face or body editing. You just mix and match 10-12 pre-made faces and bodies. Only stroke play and match play. If I read correctly, Career mode tournaments are only a handful of holes and not four rounds of 18 holes. WTF, brilliant idea. I don't understand why they would take out popular features.

Yeah I'm not impressed at all. Had high hopes for it too.

I'm sure EA is saving some DLC to help with that.

I'm still enjoying PGA13, so I'll just wait until they put out another quality product.

i read somewhere that in career mode you dont play 4x18 rounds in tournaments, but rather you are placed randomly on a shot/hole and play the odd shot here and there.

anyone confirm/deny or got more info?

man i would pay good good money for tiger woods 2004 remade with todays graphics, that career mode was goat with the sponsorships, stat increases, unlockables etc

I read in another forum you can turn this feature off, but even that is super difficult to find. But, yeah you can switch it off.

I still have a ps2, I might have to get this. I only spent a lot of time on one golf game in my life, this may have been it, but I think it was later on, like 2007, or so.

Heard Hot Shots is making a game for ps4, that could be super fun, in an arcady kind of way.

I'm not even a golf fan but I love the Hot Shot series. Hopefully that gets made.

What's funny is that this is the number one selling game in the UK right now, of course it just debuted so it may die way down.

On Hot Shots, I see Hot Shots 6 is on PlayStation Now so I may buy a month of Now just to play that.

Yeah I got the golf club on ps4 when it came out. It was pretty bad at the time too although a lot of work has apparently went into it since I last played.

I really like TGC. It is not perfect by any means, Multiplayer sucks because there is no lobby based system, but the actual game play is fantastic. It is a great golf simulation. The Course designer also ensures that there are always great new courses to play. A lot of people have made some great recreations of actual courses such as Augusta, Pinehurst, and Torrey Pines

If you want an arcade style game where you can aim the ball in the air buy Rory McIlroy. If you want a realistic golf sim buy TGC.

I don't really like it at all. My favorite part of past games has been career mode, and this one seems really phoned in. One surprise was I actually liked the new commentary (thought I'd miss Feherty): felt fresh and somewhat insightful. It also seems too easy: don't like that they give you the expected landing zone; that's new, isn't it? I mean, the ball pretty much goes exactly where the blue line says it will. I only **** up on putting, which almost seems arbitrary in terms of how hard you're supposed to hit it. I'm sure I'm just bad at it, but probably won't give the game enough of a chance to learn it.

Re: The Golf Club. I actually thought it was pretty universally accepted as the best golf game. Not true?

Is the course designer in TGC easy to use?

Very tempted to give it a go based on comments here and it seems the devs are consistantly updating. A decent course designer mode seems to give the game a whole lot more value for money.

Use tour mode on PGA and it's a lot more fun fwiw. Arcard and three click makes the game too easy.

bought TGC, and after an hour of play i absolutely love it. A lot more realistic and way more of a challenge than Rory (which is pathetically easy however you play it). Love how easy it is to search a custom course, played Augusta and Pebble Beach to test it and they were both pretty damn good copies. Also played one of the default courses to get a handicap (another great feature) and that was nice too.

for the TGC season mode club season was ridiculously easy but amateur season seems impossible. most of the holes are super long and driver>3w leaves me well short on most of the par 4's. even hitting driver off some par 3 250 yard + elevation holes will leave me short.

am i doing something wrong? average drive only goes 250-260, carries 230ish.

signed up for this and just done the qualifying school to get my card, mimics the real pga/european tour with a tournament every week which goes to user created courses of the real life counterpart.

for anyone wondering which to buy, coming from someone who owns both, TGC is by far and away the better game.

I bought Perfect Golf and ended up wasting $20. It's not worth buying.
