There was a short discussion about MP3 in the *****-Thread and I am really unsure whether I like Max Payne as a fat, bald dude. They better tell a great story how he got there. If you take the MP-movie into consideration, it's a big leap too. The movie wasn't really great, but not too bad, imo. The "monsters" actually made some sense and fit into the strange, film noir setting of the game surprisingly well, imo.
The game makers hated the movie, are totally ignoring it, and not considering it canon.

I heard that the console version of the MP2 was not very good compared to the computer version. Does anybody know if that is true?

Who made the earlier Max Payne games? I remember not thinking they were that special

Remedy made MP 1 & 2. The guys that did Alan Wake, which was really boring and repitive for me but I know that's not a popular opinion.

Rockstar Vancouver is doing MP 3. They did Bully which I thought was great. I too wasn't that big of a fan of the gameplay from the earlier MP games but I loved the atmosphere. Now that it's 100% a Rockstar production, Im excited about it.

Re: Rockstar Games Announces Max Payne 3 for Winter 2009

I hate it when trailers claim to be made of ingame footage when in fact they are cutscenes made with game engine (or sometimes even pre-rendered animations, ie. "Sony in-game footage")

I guess you could argue that cutscenes are "in-game", but they're clearly trying to mislead by those statements.

I bought the originals during the Christmas steam sale and was disappointed how poorly the controls and design has held up. Preserve your good memories IMO.

Re: Rockstar Games Announces Max Payne 3 for Winter 2009

Bump for release this week (lol @ thread being >3 years old, not to mention the subject line). Doesn't seem to be much hype or discussion about this game, and amazon dangling me a $10 credit probably isn't enough since I'm still annoyed by how boring L.A. Noire was.
