I've been playing rocket league for a couple years now. I've never understood crates/keys. I think I've attempted to open a crate once but was denied. I've never looked into it more than that.

I honestly couldn't care about anything less, and when my opponent comes into the game and says "trade?" I just always reply with the Noooo! response.

No offense to the people who are into it. I just don't get it.

There's not much to get really - If you're not into cosmetics there's little reason to bother with it. Although I believe some of the cars added lately are also only available through crates?

I enjoy pimping up my ride, so I open all the crates I get - don't bother with the trading stuff though.

I can brag a bit, finally hit diamond tonight. 598 hours. It's a bit odd since I really wanted to quit RL entirely this season, since I thought 'I'm never getting diamond so I won't like continuing to play without improving'. I finished previous season mainly at p1. Last two weeks something clicked and not only I'm playing at these levels but I seem to be playing a bit better and noticing how different these games are compared to platinum and you don't have to be a magician just have to play smart and can still win even against freestyling wizards.

Is this game still decently popular? I've been contemplating getting it for ps4. Any reasons I shouldn't (i.e., next version coming out soon)?

How did you guys learn dribbling? I'm having so much trouble. I try to do 5-10 mins of practice at the beginning of each session in free play. Basically I'm just starting off getting good at front/back balance and not turning yet. But I feel like the ball either just falls off the front or I end up having to boost too hard to keep up with it. Seems like I'm not improving and just suck.

Any tips?

ETA: Btw I switched to the flat car - breakout? - to help popping it up in the first place. I think I like this car best overall anyway, even though it's got a worse turning radius than Octane.

The trick for me was figuring out that useful, effective dribbling is just controlling the ball bouncing off the top of the car and how to stay positioned under it. Early on you think of just holding it steady on top of the car, which keeps your speed down pretty low and takes a long time to learn to let it creep up or back on the roof to speed up without losing control, and flicking requires a lot of practice to learn how to roll it along the roof to the right spot to flick with the right angle for good power. I had much better success just having it make short hopping bounces off the roof which lets me keep a much higher pace and allows me to more easily decide when and how to flick without having to worry about my pace to position it on the roof.

Does shadowplay save video by default? I just had the most hilarious interaction ever and the replay doesn't save the chat

Yeah, you hit a series of keys and it saves the last X seconds. It's what I use to make the YouTube videos.

Rocket League seems better positioned as a TV sport than most major leagues nowadays. Fast, intense games that take 10 minutes? I think I could appreciate that even if I didn't play it

My 2s teammate had an open goal with the ball bouncing right in front of him towards the left side of their net and I was flanking him from behind, there were only a few seconds left and we were down one, and he (spectacularly) whiffed an incredibly easy shot for the loss. He must type like 200 wpm because he belted out like 5 lines of berating me for not shooting it and calling me names and insta quit when the game ended. I think the other team found it just as funny as I did, didn't even mind losing.

What channel? Was it the Brisk Summer Series?

It was this channel (which I'd never seen before, must be satellite?) and it looked like they were showing the Northeast regional of whatever that 2v2 tournament was they were promoting in the game recently.
