Reminds me of the good old days in Runescape. I'll trim your armor for free!

I'm already kind of over it tbh. Figured it might be nice to get some value for them rather than having them languish in my inventory but opening them was kind of blah while at the same time the trade values are terrible and I don't really care enough about specific items to make trades.

Best bet is to look around, find the specific setup you want, and work to trade for exactly that. I was kind of into the trading scene for a while, but ended up always playing with the same car so lost interest.

Crates generally don't have that much value for three reasons:

1) Everyone who doesn't buy keys has a big stockpile of them
2) If you trade for one, you still have to buy more keys to open them
3) Most crates give out stuff you don't want

hey guys,

i have been playing with the same car since i start playing rl, but i havent played in a while so im thinking of changing cars. Is there any real difference between cars regarding handling or flying or is it all so small that a bad player like me won't feel the difference ?

Thanks

there are small differences and there is a small group of most popular cars, most notably octane, breakout and dominus.

The better you get the more differences you'll notice, things like dribbling and aerials handle differently with different cars, and the physics of shots handles differently, like longer cars can flick the ball harder from the front or back of the roof and I think hit the ball harder in general, while shorter cars seem to me easier to control while aerialing and angling for shots off the corner of the car while on the ground or in the air. They said they normalized the turning radius and acceleration of all the cars a while back but they still seem to vary in those areas a lot, though some of that is probably psychological. If that didn't make much sense, then just pick the car that you like the most.

I would say camera settings have a far greater impact on your play though, I played for a year with the default settings and started messing with them around 600 hours in and found a lot of benefit to things like maxing FOV and changing the distance and height of the camera and its angle. Again, the more you play I think the more benefit you'll get to adjusting these on a per car basis, as the settings for a long low profile car like the Batmobile will probably not be ideal for a short boxy car like the Octane.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the size of the hitbox has a big factor in how you approach 50/50 contests like on kickoff or during play, small low profile cars like the Takumi are going to be the worst for that, while something like a Merc is going to have an advantage. A lot of pros like the Octane both because of how it handles and the physics it uses and because it does well with a tall hitbox for contesting. I'm still working on understanding on how to manipulate 50/50s after 1400 hours, so this isn't something to really worry about except to know that if you're losing 50/50s all the time the car size might be a big factor.

I've been playing Octane and I feel like I've gotten marginally better but I kinda think I like Breakout better

Been using Octane for a long time but recently got a Dominus GT and like it a lot. Feels like I can adjust mid air easier which helps when your aerials are as inconsistent as mine. My shooting percentage has taken a hit which I'm hoping will improve with more use.

He couldn't take them but if someone else wants crates on PC, they can have mine. I only ask for something decent in return, maybe an extra body or something else nifty.

Changed my camera settings to a higher angle and further back so I can see more of the field. Very helpful for finding out where exactly your teammates are. But when the ball is in the air the scoreboard gets in the way a lot. Super annoying.

Bump - as part of the anniversary update that came out today, 18 new songs were added to the soundtrack by actually good electronic musicians, including Tristam, the guy above. Here's his song on the soundtrack:

Rest of the album is here (or in the game)

Does anyone regularly play on multiple platforms? I have on Steam and have ~100 hours on there but have considered buying it on PS4 as well to enjoy on larger screen. Any thoughts? I can play through Apple TV but it's kinda laggy so I never really do it.

There's one unfair advantage for console players, there are RL tips on the loading screen, but in 600 hours I've never seen them.

ime the framerate is a little lower on PS4 (at least, assuming your PC is decent to run RL smoothly, which it probably is) so I feel like I play worse on it as a result. And I prefer my 360 controller on PC over the PS4 controller but that's more subjective.

Just connect your pc to your big screen and have the best of both worlds. It's awesome.

I can play on my TV but it doesn't seem to perform as well.

I prefer the 360 controller as well but mine started to get a little sticky (it's 9 years old) so I switched to the PS4 dual shock. Doesn't seem to be a good reason to get it for PS4 at this time though so I'll just continue to suck on PC

Use an hdmi-connection instead of apple tv. If your pc is close enough for you to use your controllers while playing on the tv with apple tv, it's probably close enough for an hdmi-connection too?

Make sure you have video game mode set on your tv's options to help reduce display lag, some tvs are pretty bad and can add a few extra frames of latency.
