so that's why it feels like I can finally get challenger elite. I wonder if rising star is achievable for me this season since they mention +1,5-2 ranks for challenger players and for a long time I've felt like I'm bad for a c3 but too good for c2. Pretty sweet change for me.

Just started playing this (finally got my Mac port after waiting almost a year...) and it's awesome. Would appreciate any beginner tips or like recommended settings/gameplay modes. So far just playing basic 3 on 3 with my Xbox controller and loving it

I prefer moving my camera as far away from the ball as possible (Options>Camera FOV>Mine is set to 110 (the max)) That is very much a preference thing, I like when I'm behind the ball to be able to see in front of the ball.

Under Options>Controls I suggest assigning your Air Roll to your left Trigger, and Power Slide to X button. Getting used to a controller layout from the start is critical, for the longest time I didn't make those changes and when I finally realized that those changes made a world of difference, it took awhile to get my muscle memory down, now it feels natural and I couldn't imagine going back.

I believe default for the Scoreboard is Left Trigger, I switched the Scoreboard to R3 (pushing the right analog stick down)

Starting out a lot of players ask if they should be using ball cam or the free camera, the answer is you will get used to switching it on and off quickly in different situations (making sure you are on the right track to pick up a boost), but ball cam is used most of the time.

Other than that I can't think of any other settings to suggest changing.

As far as gameplay modes, I love Rumble so much I basically only play Rumble... the only other mode I really play is 1 vs 1 Ranked. In Rumble every 10 seconds you will be given a random "power" to use the power you press in your Left Analog stick. You can hold onto the power as long as you want, if your team or the other team scores a goal the power goes away until the next faceoff where you are again given another random power after 10 seconds. Once you use your power you wait 10 seconds to get another random power. Many lol moments.

Good luck out there!

Ya, the key is being able to hit boost and air roll or boost and slide at the same time. Keeping slide and air roll bound to the same key is usually a good idea because they're exclusive abilities, though it may take some practice at higher levels to avoid accidentally air-rolling while holding down the button for slide just as you're landing to maintain your momentum, it's no good holding your momentum if you land on your side and jack-knife a bit (if you were moving the left stick to guide the roll which becomes pretty habitual after a lot of practice) which is what you're trying to avoid in the first place. You either learn to let go of the stick or if you're still rolling to get into a better position, let go of the roll/brake button as soon as you're set and only hit it again just before landing. I know some people put boost on a top right button, which is probably a good idea since you also want to be able to jump and boost at the same time also. I've managed to stick with the defaults (b/circle for boost and a/x for jump) and kind of mash the jump button with the side of my thumb while holding down boost, but it's not ideal.

Yeah I have boost as right bumper so you can jump and boost easily.

The two things I wish I learned earlier:
1. That double-tapping a alone gives you an awesome jump, and with a direction rolls your car that way (it took me forever to figure this out); and
2. The concept of flying (jump, boost while pulling back left analog). Game is infinitely more fun once you start flying.

Just remember that points don't always showcase who the better players are, especially lower ranks. Blocking shots and good passes are worth virtually nothing points-wise but will often gift your teammates goals.

Thanks these are great! It's nice to feel competent out of the gate, though I've been on the wrong end of a few blowouts, but I'll switch my boost around to make it easier to combine with other moves. I still haven't really figured out when power sliding is useful, I guess when you need to change directions quickly?

Trying to read weev's post. I think he was having a stroke, esp. considering his age.
