- in a game with rockets attached to the back of your car you really don't have THAT much time to do something brilliant with the ball before they're flying at you and you don't pick where it goes anymore cause it's now a 50/50
Like, the first instance in that video where he says the guy made the right decision by slowing it down and waiting, the ensuing play probably should have been a disaster for his team - he made a ****ty, slow hit off the wall and the attacking blue player then whiffed, his teammate hits it forward meekly and another blue player gets a solid hit into the red zone that gets blocked by the previously mentioned blue attacking player. Like, everything went right for red on that play and it still wasn't very good!
There's definitely some merit to thinking through your actions a little more thoroughly when you have the time to plan out a more optimal way to strike the ball, but I have a hard time taking it to the extreme that this guy does (at our skill level, anyway).
Well. I would consider that he's on the #1 team in North America and try to implement the advice before burning it. I think a main takeaway is trying to make passes and control the ball rather than just hitting it as hard as you can at the other team for an easy clear. You probably have to be able to do some dribbling for it to work properly.
