I should add that I didn't think TLOU was nearly as good as most people on the forum (and general public) seem to think.
The Uncharted games are pretty mediocre at their core IMO, they are highly polished and slick, but have very little substance.

#2 is definitely the best of the franchise, if you were to only ever play one UC game that should be the one you pick.

Bloodlines has such a great atmosphere. Combat is a bit rubbish but the world design and dialogue are excellent.

Finished Season 1 of this up (4 episodes, not 5). I doubt I'll bother with Season 2. Some moments in the last episode scared me a bit but whatever. Unless you've played tons and tons of adventure games and are looking for more, there's no reason to ever play this. The series I mention in the quoted post is worth more of a look, as would any Wadjet Eye game if you're looking for modern retro-looking adventure games.

Bio shock Infinite XB360

Much like the first game Loved the sound and art design, liked the story, was unimpressed by the actual game play.

The gun play just felt loose. I moved too slowly, the cross-hair floated about imprecisely enemies were too fast to target from range and the sights on every thing but the sniper rifle were too slow moving and less effective then firing from the hip. All that coupled with bullet sponge enemies made much of the game play an annoyance. Things were particularly bad with the bigger enemies Patriots and Handymen took a ton off damage and there attacks where often unavoidable. On top of that there's just too much on screen between your shields coming back up tears that can be opened and the constant resupply of ammo, health and Salts from your AI companion. Towards the end I turned the difficulty down just so I could get through the gun play as quickly as possible.

The story kept me going I was interested in the characters and interested to see where they were going with it. In the end I felt the story was good enough but so well told it was elevated above its plot.

Last of us remastered

If you like helping people get up on ledges and moving ladders around, looking for junk this game is for you

Game is boreing it is just aimless walking looking for the next exit and emptying the rooms of bad guys so you can move on

Was really looking forward to it as it was hyped up, like playing uncharted with different characters both games are slow and boreing.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

Finished the first 3 episodes of each of The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead: Season Two. Both are worth playing. So far I'm liking TWD slightly better than I liked S1 at the same point, but we'll see how it finishes up.

By this point I can see through Telltale's "choice" mechanics (your choices seem to be meaningless as far as the overall narrative goes), but still see value in how it makes me feel when I choose something that I later regret, and how that changes how I act later. At the same time, they're kinda trying to make you feel bad no matter what you choose. It will be interesting to see if it gets really tiresome or if Telltale eventually evolved into more truly impactful choices.

In TWD S2E3 I made some choices that make me feel much more like I've contributed to Clementine's character. Even if the overall narrative stays the same, she's a certain way now (in my head, whether or not it comes to pass in-game) that she would not be with all players.

Hahaha, had 3 co-workers yesterday literally stand before me imploring me to play the game despite my skepticism, and how they all love it yet are all people with different interests.

Here is probably the best lets play ever made and it features The last of us. So for the ones that hate the gameplay or just dont fancy the game i suggest you watch this. Its like a tv series in videogame format.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

I loved the single player but I get that some didn't like it as much. To have found it boring really seems like it was rushed through and not payed attention to at all.

But I also consider a large part of the experience is being fully immersed in the multiplayer. Due to the evolution of it, though, the experience will be considerably different for anyone coming into it now (or for the last year). I could probably go into a very long, and most likely boring, explanation as to how it was before and why its like it is now, but I'll leave that alone. Save it for TLOU2, hahahaha

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

TLOU totally fits Naughty Dog's philosophy, style, presentation, and story come first, compelling or interesting gameplay is clearly not their primary concern.

The games aren't bad or anything, they just have a tendency to be kinda overrated since modern casual gamers and reviewers really dig all that cinematic jazz.

I'm definitely in the camp that values game play far above than anything else. A great story and world and immersion and characters all that stuff can be great and definitely enhance the game when done well, but should serve to compliment the underlying game. Without the game it's just a movie you have to press buttons to get through.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

The gameplay that is present is mostly fine, the main criticism I have is just the general lack of it. A 30 minute level where 20 minutes of it are cutscenes and walking/talking, that sort of thing.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

TLOU has a lot of dumb "puzzle" sequences that felt inserted in order to give the player something to do. Also the combat is only mildly fun and got repetitive as the game went on, since there weren't that many upgrades or changes.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

I liked the gameplay in both TLOU and UC single players, but the multiplayer gameplay of both is great. Especially UC4's. That is the smoothest gameplay I've ever seen in an MP. And the limited ammo in Factions make for some really intense fights.

TLOU is like a slightly more interactive Telltale game. Cool if that's your bag, but personally I'd rather watch a show than play a movie.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

Jurassic Park: Episode 3 (Telltale, PS3) - Pretty awful, as expected. As I've written about episodes 1-2, this was Telltale's very painful and ugly adolescence. They moved away from being a more old-school style adventure game company and attempted to do something with a heavy narrative focus, some QTEs, and super streamlined "puzzles" and navigation. This eventually succeeded with Walking Dead Season 1, but they had to produce this JP monstrosity first.

Here the QTEs are bad, the graphics are beyond awful (the characters almost literally look like Half-Life 1 characters from like 14 years prior), the writing/story is bad, the acting is bad, the "navigation" is non-existent (you never directly control a character walking, you just choose where you want them to go from 0-3 options).

Even so, I did not hate it. Part of that is because it's nice and short, 2 hours or less (for 1 out of 4 episodes). I greatly appreciate short episodic games at this stage of my life, and I think this is justifiable on artistic grounds, as much or more than just "derp, I'm old and don't have time for long games anymore". I go to the cinema a lot, and one of my biggest complaints is simply that most movies should be shorter. Not because I feel I'm wasting time but because it would serve the work better.

Anyway - if you love the JP license, can get this for cheap (I paid $1 for the whole season in a sale), and seeing Telltale experiment before they figured things out appeals to you, go for it. I don't really expect anyone who ever reads this to actually play it.

The Walking Dead: Season 2 Episode 4 (PS3) - Felt a bit like a filler episode. Still decent, but didn't have the strong emotional drive, sense of urgency, or catharsis of the previous episode.

Re: Review the Last Game You Finished

Stories Untold (PC)

This is a tough game to review. It's an low-budget, indie game consisting of 4 separate chapters, which will probably take you around an hour each to complete. The game starts with a text adventure, then progresses from there. Bottom line is you should buy this game - it's around $8 on Steam, maybe cheaper on one of those reseller websites.

Why's it hard to review? Because this is a game you want to go in blind to. I'd like to give more details on the types of puzzles that it contains, along with a better review, but can't. Don't read the game description when buying it, avoid spoilers like the plague: while short, this game's well crafted and deserves you go in with no preconceived notions about what's to come.

If you liked text adventure games, give it a try. If you like psychological thrillers, give it a try. If you're reminiscing for the electronic gadgets of the 80's, give it a try.

No, Gone Home was a game where you kept expecting something to happen, up until the credits rolled (IMO at least). I can't really draw a comparison between this game and any other I've played - although to be fair, I've recently only been playing Rocket League.

So on a scale of 1 to Rocket League, how much is it like Total War?

Since the game is less than a month old I won't get into my reasoning to avoid spoilers...I'll try to remember to elaborate later on.

Zelda BOTW - Switch
Overall score - 8
