RE up until 4 was a SUPERB franchise. RE4 was meh for me, I couldn't enjoy it just because it had Resident Evil in its name and it really wasn't Resident Evil.

Well, most people disagree. The only way it "wasn't" RE imo was that it wasn't technically zombies and mutated plants/animals but rather people infected with mind controlling parasites and cultists.

re 4 compared to the other games was a bit like stars wars episode 1 compared to the "real" star wars movies.
the name was on it, but it wasnt the real product

RE:ORC takes place during RE2+3 and you play as either an Umbrella merc destroying evidence and murdering survivors (Including Claire/Leon/Jill) or a US Govt agent saving survivors and gathering evidence. Game is non-canon

RE6 is 10 years after RE2 and between 4 and 5. Game is canon.

I wasn't a survival horror game it was a third person shooter.

Loved RE4 but it wasn't RE

It wasnt' RE. Resident Evil changed with 4.

4 was actually a great game, unlike the massively flawed and boring 1-3 games.

Just chiming in since I just beat RE4 again. RE4 confirmed best Resident Evil game.

List pretty clearly goes 4 >> 1 > 2 > 5 = CV = 0 > 3, imo.

But 4 is just so fantastic in every aspect that it's difficult to fathom 6 coming anywhere close, although as a huge RE fan I do have high hopes.

There is a new RE6 trailer, and it looks badass. Also they moved up the release date to 10/02/12.

And some new info on multiplayer imo.

super lol at this, the original games were good but RE4 shat all over them

hating on them just because it was different style of play? that was like the biggest plus about it, it had such a real feel to the gameplay it that previous RE's very much lacked

the single camera angle that wasnt even 3rd person in previous RE's was so ***** annoying. It was cool in the fact that it made it seem like a movie but during fights it was incredibly irritating

old ppl dont like new things

They shifted the genre with 4. That's all, really. Any dislike for the games based on genre is irrational and ridiculous. There haven't been enough Resident Evil games to warrant Resident Evil "purists".
