It hasnt been an issue for me either. I do get it some watching videos in some of the free video apps. I just have to recenter with the option button occasionally. In games I havent noticed much if any drifting at all.

I just picked up a psvr today and revisited this thread. Funny enough, I had this issue a couple times tonight and wondered if it was just my initial setup or if it's something others have noticed.

Have you experienced it, and is it a problem with the headset or camera? I'll have to do some searching online -- wasn't a big problem, but I'll have to figure out how to quickly/easily recenter.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

quick recenter is long-press options button.

Describe exactly your drift issue / setup / distances etc, chances are it's setup related but could be a fault in either.

I was waiting for an update to EVE to finish downloading/installing, so I started watching a netflix movie. After a few minutes I noticed that I was looking off to the left while sitting on my couch to keep the screen centered.

My camera is on top of my TV which is about 6-ish feet from the couch; maybe 7 feet from where my head is while I'm sitting. The camera is about a foot higher than my head, so it points slightly down.

I read that the cord from my controller to the PS4 could cause issues if it's plugged in, as it was last night, so perhaps that contributed. On the positive side, I played around 30 minutes of EVE without the screen drifting, and overall I'm not really concerned.

I have an oculus dk2, and tinkered on that a long time ago. My initial impression is that Eve is a very similar (in a good way) experience to Elite Dangerous. That said, I never really went far into Elite, so perhaps the games diverge once you get deeper into them. Either way, pretty fun.

I was surprised that the resolution isn't much (any?) better on the psvr compared with the dk2. Getting much better resolution will, I think, make a huge difference in adoption and experience.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

Ah right. Yeah, Netfilx operates in "cinema mode", with the camera and the main headset lights off. It relies only on the IMU sensors in the headset and it sounds like yours are a bit drifty. Powering up the unit when it is stationary, and (I don't like this) shaking it allegedly reduces IMU drift. If it's really bad, get an exchange. Mine needs an options-button hold reset every 10 minutes or so in cinema mode, depending how much I look around.

In actual VR apps, the lights and camera kick in and drift should be pretty much eliminated, sounds like it is for you (and is for me). Anyone still getting drift in VR mode, having tried camera in a few places and made sure they aren't sitting surrounded by mirrors etc should get an exchange.

EVE is totally awesome imo!

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

I am not sure if I have drift or if I just am moving my head around, but it is not uncommon for me to be using it in "cinema mode" and end up 180 degrees from where I started (or even 540 degrees because I'm not entirely sure tbh).

You are standing up while watching movies? I can't see that happening if you lay down in your bed or sit on a chair

No I'm sitting on an office type chair that spins. Not watching movies, playing Overwatch in fact.

It is hard on certain characters, but Reinhardt is fine and no performance loss.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

If you are playing video game in theater mode I think it's pretty standard. I can remember playing tony hawks pro skater on ps1 sitting in my bed while I was a kid and I fell out of the bed a couple time. I also remember moving a lot because I was excited

I remember we would put infinite grinding on and let it go until it hit an integer limit and the numbers would start going backwards.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

I'm seeing near unanimous praise for RE7 on PSVR. People are calling it the killer app. Some owners of multiple headsets are saying it is hands down the best VR experience they've had.

I wasn't expecting this from RE7 at all. I guess I'll pick it up soon.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

Was trying out some VR this weekend and looking for something that is more a stand up and move around type environment. I liked the htc vive with lab set-up and particularly the longbow game. Difference is that needs a whole new computer setup in a different room. Prefer a standalone PS but trying to get an idea of if they have a similar games and ones that have more moving around.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

Bought a PS4 Pro and VR over the weekend.

Arkham was phenomenal but short. When it was over I briefly thought "Ok, so I finished the prologue, sweet" and then had a moment of disappointment. But, it has some decent replayability and was a great experience. Def worth the $20

Tried out some demos and RIGS, Rush of Blood and Battlezone came out on top. RoB seems to be the most worthwhile of them all at ~$20.

Still not through the RE demo as it is truly terrifying but I have no doubt assuming all the good praise holds up. Will be picking it up at some point.

Will be getting Werewolves Within very soon as it's receiving praise and seems to be exactly what we over at POG play every day also it's pretty cheap.

I even played a few hours of Witcher with the headset on, laying down on my couch facing away from the TV. More comfortable and immersive, though I will probably only do so about 50% of the time.

Can't wait for the first FPS and RPGs to come out. I think Farpoint being the first

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

Awesome, yeah can't imagine anything better than Werewolves Within for the POG crowd I haven't played it but hear many good things on reddit. If you haven't already, the PSVR subreddit is a very useful source of massive hype for every release information.

Rush of Blood is indeed a steal at $20, great game! I assume you have Move controllers already because Batman, but if not consider picking some up. Many games are controller only but those that can use Moves benefit greatly, RoB being one of them.

I own RE7 but didn't play it yet, everyone I know that has says it's incredible, and those with VR even more so!

Not really. Batman, Job Simulator and Holoball are about the only ones I can think of with much movement at all, and while you can move they are much more "stand in the sweet spot and reach as far as you can, perhaps take 1 step in each direction". I might be forgetting some, but if it's "room scale" you're after the HTC Vive is your headset of choice.

Re: PSVR - PlayStation Virtual Reality

If anyone is playing Werewolves Within our subreddit has a new Mod, new look and growing community so it's a great resource to keep on top of and I would enjoy the support.
