Oculus already has a consumer prototype that is 1080p at the same cost the dev kits were less than a year ago. There are a lot of good things being said by people have tried both.

You can't buy or even pre order the 1080p version yet, they were just showing the prototype at e3. I've tried a rift and its amazing. I posted my thoughts in the rift thread as well as some pics. I said in that thread that I'd be shocked if ms or sony weren't all over it or something similar. It would be very hard not to be impressed after trying it.

Whats the word on the ps4 servers? Will every game have dedicated servers and how many new ones is sony gonna put out for the ps4? I have major concerns about sony really botching their new network.

Warchant I know you try pretty hard but I'll answer anyway. Games having dedicated servers is completely up to the publisher. MS' bull**** cloud and whatever Sony has will not allow every game to have dedicated servers, that's ridiculous. Most PS3 exclusives that had online used dedicated servers while games like bf3 and cod used p2p. Even halo didn't have dedicated servers. Gears 3 did but they shut them down at the end of last year. In short, no one can answer your question about sonys network but I can guarantee that no console will have dedicated servers for every game.

What does sony's plans for their network have to do with non sony published games having dedicated servers? You missed the point, dedicated servers is up to the publisher, not the console manufacturer. There's is no chance in hell ms or sony are paying for each game to have dedicated servers so I have no idea what you're wanting them to announce.

Dedi servers aren't free. They cost on PC too.

BF2, BF3, CS, Unreal Tournament, Minecraft and so many others seem to have a healthy dose of dedis on pc, even if they cost.

BF3 stats has 431 pages of active servers, with 20 servers per page. http://bf3stats.com/servers/all#start_0

They are sure as hell lying about having 300k real dedicated servers.

Virtual Machines are nice to pad numbers.

Yeah this. Jon Blow called them out on this they didn't even respond to him probably because he's an indie and ms have the lol indies frame of mind.

Even without that though, if MS geniunely have dedicated servers for every game then thats a pretty awesome deal.

I didn't mean to imply you could buy one. Oculus said that they can make the 960x1080 (x2) consumer prototype at the same cost right now.

Ah ok. Yeah they've always said they wanted to keep it around the same price as the dev kit. I think going past $300 would be a bad idea anyway. Fwiw I'm way more excited about the rift then am I about any next gen console.

I saw a game (I believe PS4 exclusive) that was an action RPG that had similar look/font in the title to Dark Souls. I can't find it now, anybody know what I'm thinking of?

The new halo for XB1 and Titanfall are going to be on dedicated servers, so that's a good start no matter what.
