Whelp. Jumped in the pool.

Used the Pikachu starter "trick" since Pikachu is the solitary think I know about these pokemans.

Nintendo stock is going crazy, for those that didn't know. I bought in last Friday, then more Today... then more again...

Here's hoping for a good Asian release!

decided to take the 4 mile walk home from work today to hit some high density pokespots and hatch some eggs. After about 0.5 miles the servers went down and didn't come back until I was already home basically. On the bright side I caught a wild pikachu in that first 0.5 miles.

you can still transfer most of them. it costs 12 to evolve a pidgey and you get four candy for a catch and transfer, just keep as many as you can evolve

I think the game gives away if a pokeball is successful or not. If you hit a pokemon and the white poke ball loading thing comes up in the top left, I think it means that the game is saving the pokemon to your collection. This doesn't actually affect anything but it's nice to know if you're stressing about a rare pokemon running away. Haven't tested it extensively though.

I noticed also that if you're trying to catch a pokemon, and you see the option to go to your bag disappears, the game's gonna crash but it will still let you throw a bunch of pokeballs. So I've just been rebooting the app when I see the bag disappear to save time.

I've noticed that the game crashes more often in high density spots. The shopping center I went to yesterday with 5 pokestops on 24/7 lure was unusable today. Kind of annoying cause I'm running low on pokeballs and I have no good way to refill outside of that shopping center.

Walked my dog... saw 6 different dudes playing this game, including two walking back and forth from gyms with their dogs. Had a 15 min conversation with a 26 year old black banker that had parked his car and walked 300 metres to the cemetery gym before heading home for the day.

... I've never seen anything like this before.

It's weird especially given how skeletal this release is. How successful it is is going to rely on the community for sure.

Can I play this if I have a phone that isn't activated but only uses wifi? I figured I could walk around the mall or somewhere with free wifi and have some fun but right now im getting server error messages.

Walking back home through rock creek park, i stop to catch a dratini as two runners pass me. I catch it and look up. Both are stopped trying to catch it too. Amazing

If they were at all smart, one of these local suits running for office in my small town would be hanging out at our busiest pokegym on Sunday handing out bottled water to all these wannabe trainers and playing with them.

So many people on K Street today hitting all the pokestops lol. It's like everyone was playing.

At one point this morning nearly half of the stops (of which there were many) in my vision had lure on them.

I'm near a college campus and people just spam lures on the stops there all day/night. Gonna be even more lit once the fall semester starts.

I'm Level 4 right now - all I've done is collect Pokemon. Haven't leveled up or evolved any of them yet. Don't really understand the strategy of which ones to pick, but I'm in no hurry. I'll figure it out. My highest CP Pokemon is a Pidgeotto with CP 83. I caught him at a stop light.

I have a Publix shopping center around the corner - walking distance from my house - with a Pokestop on one end and a gym on the other. The Publix is in the middle. I may see if sitting in the Publix cafe area (and their wifi) puts me in striking distance of both at the same time. Even when I get to Level 5, I think it will be a while before I try a gym battle, but it would be cool if Publix turned out to be the perfect spot, as I'm there multiple times a week.

EDIT: Living in a city/urban area seems like such an advantage in this game. I live in the suburbs and there are never any Pokemon around my house. I just used incense to get some. Got maybe 5-6 in 30 minutes?

Hey, once I finally decide to try a gym battle, is there any strategy involved in decided which team to be on? Just pick the team that controls my closest gym?

Man, I hope I don't start playing this a lot. I'm a 40-year old man for crissakes.
