I live in the suburbs also and leveling seems so slow without being pay to win (which I'd prefer not to be because it kills a lot of the fun for me). Everything is very spread out and I'm out of incense.

I tried going to a college campus for take advantage of some PokeStops in close proximity, but I was having tons of loading and connectivity issues and there weren't even that many Pokemon there. I also didn't get any incense or incubators from the 20+ PokeStops I went to that day (and haven't gotten any from the 30+ I visited in previous days) which was pretty disappointing. Are they incredibly rare?

pretty sure you only get those from hitting certain levels

I did buy 1 lucky egg to get me from 7 to past 9, then you get a free lucky egg at both level 9 and 10. I just saved up a ton of pidgeys, popped the first lucky egg, and evolved them. Pidgeys are Weedles are the most valuable to me since they only take 12 candy to evolve. Rattatas take 25 so they are less valuable for power leveling.

I also went to a park downtown and the spawns were absurd. I literally caught 4 scythers in the 1.5 hours I was there and I had never seen anything close to that good by my house. Pic from a good farming spot at said park:

Spoiler:

Edit: Incense seems incredibly rare from pokestops. I have gotten 2 incubators though and I haven't visited that many since the closest one is a mile away. Actually, the 2 incubators might have been from leveling up. Not totally sure.

How do you use the lucky egg? And why having the same Pokémon valuable ?
Also how long do you think this trend will last?

Go to your inventory then click it. You should see a timer appear on the main screen. For the next 30 minutes, you get double xp for all actions. Having a bunch of pidgeys is valuable because that means you'll have a bunch of pidgey candy and you get 2000xp for every pidgey you evolve while the lucky egg is active. If you time the lucky egg so that some regular eggs hatch while it's active, it helps a lot too.

I think you get an incubator at level 6.

For GPS, go to settings / location. You have choices * high accuracy * device only * power saving. For most situations, device only is best. For old phones or if you are among tall buildings, high accuracy is best.

Google has mapped wifi ssids to locations. Power saving uses just that mapping and doesn't use your gps for location. That isn't really usable. It hops from one fixed location to another as you move. High accuracy combines the wifi ssid locations with your gps chip. I call it low accuracy because generally gps is much better so the wifi info is adding noise.

This free app will help you with gps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...psstatus&hl=en

Install it, go to device only mode in location, drift will be gone.
Thanks for posting all the info!

The GPS fix didnt really help in my case. I leave among tall-ish buildings and my phone is apparently known for having hardware GPS issues. Anyway, the game did count about 5km of "walking" during my commute so I'm not going to complain.

You get a lucky egg at level 9: http://www.ign.com/wikis/pokemon-go/...lockable_Items

My plan when I get there is to drop some incense and go on a 30min evolving and capturing spree.

Just hit level 8 and haven't evolved/released a pokemon since probably level 4. When I get to 9 I'll probably have 200 pidgey and weedle candies to spend on evolving. Will report how many levels I jump with a lucky egg

Guess I should feel bad for going on my evolving spree last night at level 7.5

you will get sick of the time it takes to do the animation lol

i power leveled a little last night mass evolving with a lucky egg next to a lure.. it was just nonstop between pokemon spawning and then going back to evolve

Anyone have an indication of the exact # of pokemon you can evolve in the 30 mins if you have them already in your inventory? My estimate is probably 60-100?

higher end of that range seems doable if you have the mon/candy.. i think i did about 40ish last night before i ran out of evolvable mon and still had time (not sure exactly but wanna say it was in the 7-12min left range).. keep in mind that was while catching pokemon though

also you get a candy back from an evo plus you can trade in the evolved pokemon so pidgeys actual cost is 10per.. doing the mass evolve/transfer the ****ty evolved/re-use those candies is the way to go

I'm sure some wizard on reddit did the math

Apparently the app uses google's API. So, if you download your area as an offline map it should reduce battery consumption and improve performance.

In.

Fun game, I've got 11 and 13 year old boys that spent years glued to their DS playing every Pokemon game that ever came out. I even spent about a year collecting cards and learning the card game with them. I'm far from a Pokemon expert, but can say this game is accessible to even the people with zero Pokemon knowledge.

My boys have gone on more bike rides and walks in the last 3 days then they have in the last 4 months.

Quick question; I'm about level 10 and have basically just hoarded all items/Pokemon found to this point. If I use Incense do I need to be mobile to get the most out of it or can I just hangout at sbux?

Might want to try timing egg hatches during that time too

question: if I need candy to evolve things, then why is it important to not transfer them before having a lucky egg active? I mean, obviously you need things to evolve, but it seems like you'd also still need to have candy.

I haven't used a lucky egg, so I don't know if it's supposed to give you candy too, or something.

It's not even available in my country and I've seen people playing it, the gym in front of my house changes teams every couple of hours, too.
