What? He isn't being a dick in the slightest. This is a planned event.

You're not a dick, your gf is crazy.

She's sounds like she needs to grow up. Having other interests is part of a healthy relationship.

With that said you need to pick your battles. Is this really worth it long term?

Invite GF, problem solved?

She can just drink and not play pokemon, no?

Ok, so I went for a few hours and will be hanging out with the gf soon to watch the Alabama/Arkansas game at some bars by her.

I did invite her, numerous times. But she didn't like the idea of just sitting there while a "bunch of nerds are on their phones playing Pokémon" and hopping one bar to the next every hour for drinks. Oh well. I had fun, evolved my Horsea and Gloom finally so there's that. Took the grind out of the game that had been plaguing me lately actually.

I did think of the long term ramifications of going and just being a dick about it.. so I wanted to compromise and actually work something out.

Thank God for football is all I have to say... something we both love. Lol.

I will say, the tracker debate really depends on your area. I've never used one either, but I'm fortunate to have a kickass map and community. It wasn't until I visited some rural friends/family that I understood the complaints.

Niantic obviously doesn't want people using trackers, but for some folks it was truly the only enjoyment they had.

The infuriating thing is I'd not be complaining if they hadn't ****ed up their 3 steps system, that was pretty much the perfect amount of balance between not uselessly walking but not having it super easy to find either.

As it happened, like 1 week after the game was launched, they ****ed it up, huge bug and then they just decided to get rid of it.

I'm sure there are reasons but I don't even see the reasons why they'd think it's better for them to go hard after trackers like that

I wish they implemented the system they have in San Francisco elsewhere because that works very well.

3steps wasn't a bug. it was intentionally disabled, and then intentionally removed. reasons were safety/liability and/or bandwidth.

money. after the last time they disabled trackers (unknown6) they released some plots that showed an immediate drop in half in bandwidth or api calls or whatever the measurement metric was. trackers and bots cost them a lot of money, and opportunity cost by slowing their expansion into new markets.

(argument can be made that players using trackers spend money that they won't spend without tracker - but this is hypothetical hard to predict dollars, vs hard numbers for the other side)

Go radar still works as well as it ever did. It's not perfect it is better than nothing if you want a map.

Went to DC again today, had to cut my trip short when my charge chord quit on me. First time I didn't catch or evolve anything new but since I only need six more for the dex that's normal I think. I'm 3/4 of the way to my Gengar now.

Where I live (my "map") has a ton of great places to play and pokestops pretty much everywhere.

I don't use trackers or maps. Pretty fortunate to live in NYC, where I can run into all kinds of Pokémon without trying too hard.

Last night I was hanging out at the main hotspot on the corner of Central Park and saw a group of people with trackers start running somewhere. I decided to follow them and they led my to a Porygon several blocks away. It seems like trackers make it too easy to complete the Pokedex.

It's 11pm, I see a level 3 gym nearby and start to walk my dog the 500m over to take it. By the time I'm there a car has pulled in and is idling. There's one dude in it and he's finishing off the gym. I pull the gym up and within 2 minutes it's somehow a level 8 gym with half a dozen level 5 dudes and 32cp pokemon. I drop off a 2k lapras and walk away as he remains idling in the parking lot for another 20 minutes.

If you live in NYC probably.

For those of us that don't it maybe makes it possible for us to find just more uncommon pokemon so we can get an evolve.

That's one of the big problems with the game and one of the reasons it dying.

Yeah. When you live in the vast, country state of Wisconsin, there isn't much in the way of stops, spawns or anything really. I have to either go around after work or drive 30 min to a busy area and hope I come across something other than a Pidgey or Rattata.

I've also never used a tracker or any illegal software. I've done it all the hard way, and my pokedex shows, lol. Still, it's Pokémon...

I see this a lot too. I completely get the idea of driving around, taking a bunch of gyms late at night, pumping them up to Level 8 or 10 and going onto the next. But they always seem to idle in the parking lots for like 20 minutes after the gym has already been taken.

What the hell are all these Pokemon Gym conquistadors doing idling their cars for so long? I used to think they were checking trackers to see where to drive to next, but now with trackers down, what could they possibly be doing?

Has PokemonGO Gym taking become the favourite supplementary pastime of young marijuana smokers? Is that what they're doing? I mean it'd be a pretty good alibi. "No officer I'm just idling here playing Pokemon!"

The idea of a 30 year old dude hanging out in parking lots multi accounting gyms is kind of sad.

anybody else's pokedex acting funny? I noticed yesterday that it started showing silhouettes for some pokemon that I have never encountered, and when I tap on them it says "Seen: 1 Caught: 0." Has it changed so that it is now counting things I see in a gym?
