Wtf does IV mean / how is it calculated / why is it important?

How do you know which 'movesets" are good?

Here's a list of the best defenders and the best movesets. The movesets are better as defenders for a variety of reasons, including more water types being available in general, and the amount of time to charge it up.

Does anyone use evolution calculators? Is there a fairly accurate 1 that you use? Every 1 I've tried way overestimates the cp. I've never had 1 hit the average cp.

I guess it could just be bad luck on my end.

I do run bad at Eevee evolves

13 evolutions:
2 Vaporeon
3 Jolteon
8 Flareon

I used the name trick for each so it's really 1, 2, 7.

32 hyper potion
72 max potion
31 revive
2 lucky egg
20 poke
177 great
49 ultra
15 razz
Camera, incubators

Throw away poke, go for more revives and stronger balls?

the facebook pokemon go group for my local area has been awesome, everyone working together. Charmander nest discovered at an area golf course, exeggcutor nest at a state park

Not that much, and I think 100 is disproportionate to my # of revives, but it feels so dirty throwing away hypers

I guess I'll add context - I'm on international business travel, so no data on my personal cell, but the hotel I'm staying at is within range of 3 pokestops that I've been cycling every once in a while. Since I'm not catching anything or battling, I figured I'd focus on optimizing my bag.

What's it all about with these attack/defense IVs?

If I have a mon with medium attack and optimal defense IV, does it mean:

a) I should put it in a gym as it is good in defending gyms (and not so good in attacking gyms)

b) every single blow it takes is partially absorbed and does less damage (but that works equally in attacking and defending gyms)

They're just showing what your Pokemon excels at. A Pokemon with high defense IV may not necessarily make a great defender.

For a solid defender, you are usually looking for high HP, a quick primary attack, and a powerful special attack. Alternatively, I've found a really quick special attack can also be effective.

As for attack, you basically just want to pack a punch. With proper dodging, almost any Pokemon can be a good attacker. It all depends on how quickly you want the battle to end.

Again, you should always be prioritizing movesets over IVs. The overall difference in effectiveness with IVs is generally overrated.

Man just logged into pogobag.me, all my large CP creatures have ****ty IV's, damn. What am I doing wrong? I'm a 21 almost 22 FWIW.

Movesets are much more important than IVs. Also, using pogobag is probably not a good idea. You may get flagged for scraping server data.
