Like I said, I don't live downtown overtop of a perpetually lured Pokestop like I imagine most people who are Level 30 or higher do, nor do I have any reason to go downtown/other populated areas for work or whatever on a daily basis. So most of my play is a few daily scheduled walks around the neighborhood.
few daily walks around the neighborhood? Ok, mate, thanks for clarifying "obsessed"

I was also at my cottage in a rural location for over 2 weeks up until about a week and a half ago. So instead of having ~5-6 weeks to play the game like most people in Canada I've effectively had ~3 weeks of gameplay instead. I think my collection is very similar to others around my level so I'm not quite sure what you're on about.
You were so obsessed over that game that you went to a rural cottage? Good move, the excitement from your few daily walks while being "obsessed" wouldn't have served your health well if continued.

Get back to us when you stream your few daily drives around your neighborhood in your 30k truck while assembling a mediocre squad, can't wait.

Edit: at least you didn't catch any plant AIDS during your walks

You're from Belgium? Since I have the same start date and I also started on launch day . Where did you get the Arcanine (or candies for evolution)?

I'm lvl 25. I think you aren't powering up your pokemon yet? Otherwise your Vaporeon should be way strongher. I got mine up to 2k just to have a 2k pokémon.

Also if you're obsessed you could level faster with spending so much money . Your pokemon inventory space + egg hatch rate indicates to me you've spent quite a bit. You did walk a lot more kms than me and I have done a lot of long walks.

Not hating tho. I am going to buy coins tomorrow, game gets too hard post lvl 25 to not buy coins imo.

I caught my first Chansey yesterday. Such a weird pokemon. I am sad that I didn't get it earlier, mine is probably too weak at this point (386cp) to level up friendly gyms fast. I really hate leveling up friendly gyms cause I suck at it .

Also, anyone else saving up strong eevee's for when the next evolutions are released ? Or is that too FPS?

Is chansey any better than arbitrary unevolved Pokémon at leveling up gyms?

Canada actually, but yes, we started about a week later than our American brethren.

The Arcanine, I think I hatched two Growlithes and caught two Growlithes. I only have 5 candies left over, he's only 84% perfect and has Fire Fang/Flamethrower. So that's why I haven't powered him up more. Same goes for the Vaporeon. 95.6% perfect, but Water Gun/Water Pulse (instead of Hydro Pump) and I only have 11 Eevee candies (they're not too common in my neighborhood.)

When I was first starting, I would waste some dust and candy powering up weak-ish things because I didn't know what I was doing and the whole IV thing hadn't really been developed yet. So now I'm reluctant to power up anything unless it's like 93% perfect or higher and has the best moveset. I have a 1082cp Dewgong for example which is 89% perfect and has Ice Shard/Blizzard. I've powered him up a bit, but am still a tiny bit reluctant because I might eventually get a better one. But you're generally right, I'm not powering stuff up. I don't have any really amazingly high IV Pokemon with perfect movesets (aside from the 1275cp 97.8% Hypno and 1256cp 88.9% Pidgeot, but that's not what you want to be spending your dust on...)

I currently have about 150k dust saved up and yes, I've bought the 5200 Pokecoin package, 4 times now I feel like I'm very close to being on the cusp of having a ton of really good 2000+cp guys soon though.

Yeah, I also have not been powering up and generally have lower CPs than people who do. I think waiting is a solid move, if a bit slow. The moment I hit 28 I started seeing spawns like an 1844 Snorlax.

Right now, I just hang on to anything decent and will worry about optimization once I'm past level 30. Progressing from level 26 to 28 was a lot slower, but I had more fun because I wasn't focused on the grind. I play less but enjoy my time more. I feel like it's when you're near the end of a great book and you stretch it out for as long as you can.

Going to a meetup sponsored by one of the parks here tomorrow. They're doing constant lures, prize packages for Pokemon competitions, and free 3D sculptures of Pokemon. I've got about 30 Mystic patches that my lady friend made for me, going to hand them out for fun.

the strongest eevee i've caught has never been the strongest eevee i've caught for longer than about 4 days.

wouldn't surprise me if i catch 20 eevees stronger than my current strongest eevee before gen2 comes out. maybe 50 more if gen2 doesn't release when i think it will.

saving would be silly. like those people saving a million zubat candy for gen2, as if they aren't going to get another million zubat candy between now and then.

I'm saving candies for rarer Pokemon like Onix, at least that's what I tell myself when I hatched the third one from 10km eggs.

Screw Zubats. I walk the other way when I see those little bastards.

I'm almost at that point with Abras but I have a sick fascination with watching them break out of the first ball and run every time.

I guess this is true for me as well. I guess I'll evolve some more eevees, I don't have a strong Jolteon yet. Max eevee I've caught so far was 702 cp.

I feel like people get the impression early game (level <20) that Zubats and Sparrows are a bitch to catch but once you're level 23+ they really aren't that different from any other pokémon. Especially Zubats are pretty easy, anything under 300 cp should be an easy catch with 1-3 regular pokeballs. The throw distance is long but this shouldn't be an issue once you've caught a lot pokemon. And they have a really wide range for nice/great throws. Sparrows are a bit tougher but I still catch them as well, certainly if they are under 300 cp.

They break out constantly on me. But I still catch them because I usually have 200 balls.

Lapras 2158 (me)
Dragonite 2183

Hatched a Charmander today. I felt slightly foolish that doing so made me so happy, but whatever, I need Charmanders and they are really rare for me.

Hatched 3 Ekans today. Ok cool but I'm 18 candies away from evolving my cp948 96% Gloom, 11 candies away from evolving my cp760 96% Poliwhirl and 16 candies from evolving my cp545 93% Cubone. So one of those would have been nicer.

Also, I currently have 53 Drowzees and 25 Raticates in my inventory. Any suggestions on what I should do with those? Transfer away any Raticate that doesn't have Hyper Beam? Some Drowzees are OK to keep to evolve because I currently have 400 candy and counting, but 53 is too many and they're too cute to part with

trade drowzee for candy to make hypno.

use raticates to attack gyms. do the same thing with pidgeoto. instead of just transferring them for candy immediately, use them to do partial damage to gyms and still get your candy after they are out of hit points.

essentially instead of just getting a candy, you also get a potion (by saving a potion you would have used to heal a different pokemon).

lol at keeping all those drowzees

I do like hitting them square in the beak with a pokeball tho
