Re: Path of Exile

Downloading now, at 10 bucks it seems like a steal and I need something to fill the void left by D3. The worst.

Re: Path of Exile

I've been playing this more and really starting to enjoy it now. Anyone that likes these type of games should probably check it out or at the very least try it when it hits open beta.

I still can't make sense of how to trade for items though, I have no idea what components have value or what the 'standard' currency for transactions is.

Re: Path of Exile

Downloading it now for the stress test.

I'm just tired of how lame D3 is, even with the recent improvements the game is just flat.

I like the complexity and depth that PoE appears to have, but I'm glad they are doing this stress test so I can get a feel for how it plays.

Re: Path of Exile

I actually deleted the beta client because I forgot they were reopening for an open beta...and isn't it going to be free to play anyways?

The only thing I didn't really like about the game was that it was clunky. It wasn't smooth like D3 is.

I hope they fixed that. I hope enough people complained about it that they looked into it.

As much as I am a fan of playing new and different games, I don't know if I'm ready to get re-involved into another game that requires a lot of grinding.

Re: Path of Exile

Ya the UI and targetting is definitely clunky, I guess that's the disadvantage of being a small fry in the gaming world. Little things like having to drag all the items around rather than right click to sell, etc.

Re: Path of Exile

I've been watching this a bit on kripp's stream. I think a lot of those little things might be fixed. He's always shift+clicking or something to sell items and the game itself looks smooth as butter from his perspective (I don't have a key).

Supposedly the open beta patch is going to be massive too with a ton of fixes/changes and the third act. I'm actually looking forward to this release as much as I was for D3 before D3 was actually released (I'm a big time ex-D2 player).

Re: Path of Exile

This game is far better than diablo 3. It stays true to the theme of diablo 2 but with better mechanics. If only it had the pk element of diablo 1 it would be a truly brutal game. I know a game is good when it stops me playing sc2 for more than a week.

You gotta play it on hardcore though.

I think the game has already come along way and is pretty smooth experience so the open beta onwards- will be pretty sick. It sucks to lose all my stash though. If only for this level 1 sword and low level amulet which made leveling a new character pretty rapid.

I'm really curious about what kind of micro transactions will be available. The 5 stash pages seem to be sufficient so don't really see much point buying more of that. Still have all my points.

I think they should make f2p limited to one character. The devs really do deserve a decent slice of $ considering how much d3 rakes in and how terrible it was. THis game is the true diablo 3 imo

Re: Path of Exile

I only played HC on D3 from day 1. I planned to do the same with PoE. That cut-throat league looked pretty sick too.

I dunno about 1 character though. D2 was the only game I really played where I had a bunch of characters. I think when I stopped I had 2 accounts of characters, and definitely multiples of each class.

A game like this kind of needs 10-15 char slots minimum. It's not like D3 where you only need 1 of each class forever because there's no real specs.

I think the devs will make a ton on cosmetic stuff. Look at games like HoN or LoL. They are really cosmetic only micro-transaction games and riot games is rolling in money from it.

Nope

I heard the open beta goes live on Jan 23rd though. Have been watching Kripp to get an introduction to the game and it seems really fun from what I could understand.

Re: Path of Exile

solsek, there's a 3 hour interview with the lead game developer on one of kripp's streams. You might be interested in it.

It starts a few minutes after this mark and is from 2 weeks ago:

Re: Path of Exile

Thanks for the beta key Verno!

I'll check that out Shoe Lace. I've seen Chris on Kripps stream several months back. He seems like he truly cares about the community feedback about the game.

Played it so far to level 5 and I am liking it a lot. The passive skill tree seems a bit overwhelming to start though. Can't wait to keep playing.
