That ring is not end game worthy at all though. I'd much, much rather get to use 12 alchs on high ilvl rings and at least have a chance that I get something my character would use.

But I think it's even better to just put the 2 gcp towards a much better item that might cost you a few exalts.

Bah died again to rare grappler (mobs whit discharge) in aquaduct sewers, he did some sick sick dmg to me. Does those mobs do chaos dmg?

Discharge does elemental dmg, but it's a crapload of elemental dmg if he has multiple charges up.

Roll a Summoner and even 2 Brutus become easy mode...

summoners clear very slow though.

The problem I have at the moment is I need to play extremely cautious. Most map-level mobs (even 66) will hit me for a ton. A single hit will take me down to 40-60% ES usually.

If you go full summoner with zombies, skellie totem and spectres and all minion nodes you wont notice a huge difference imo. Key is to put spectres on your 5L/6L and then get spell casters from anywhere with lmp/gmp. With 2 spectres you will clear everything very fast. And im not even talking about getting uniques to get to 4 spectres, this should be a massacre. Cant compare this to the very endgame though.

Damn... lvl 78 summoner/dual spark down in a 66 map. Up until this point I almost never got hit. I just got punctured or whatever the bleed effect is by some crazy extra damage mob who crit but the map had no bonus damage.

5100 ES gone about instantly. I never took damage that fast before on any character. Such a crippling death too, I lost like 10 exalts worth of gear and just binge grinded from 1 to 78 because I won't be able to play a lot in the upcoming weeks.

That sucks. good luck selling your gear for hc currency, it can be a pain.

I deleted the character seconds after dying. I'm just happy I didn't die at the tail end of my map streak. I had just bought and rolled 18x lvl 66 maps. I died like 2 maps in so I still have 16 left for when I get back to mapping.

This was after running at least 40 maps though easily.

Going to be tough re-gearing up but I'll try. I spent a lot of currency on that character.

At least now I know the mechanics on puncture. You take physical damage over time even if you stand still but if you move then it gets heavily amplified. The monster's damage modifiers apply to it and it can also crit. I wish I was a streamer so I could show you guys how fast my health went down. I took like 5 steps and I was dead from full ES - whatever the hit was initially.

Standing around with CI is super dangerous which is why I didn't stop moving. I just saw my ES dropping super fast and figured some dark model mobs were ripping my face off (I play with texture quality 4 which makes some mobs blend into darkness).

I've mainly switched over to default for various reasons but I probably have an exalt of two of HC currency. Next time one of you high level HC guys dies, don't trash your stuff! Hit me up!

I'd suggest keeping your gear that you levelled with too. It's not often worth much but it'll save you a ton of time later on. Particularly as it appears to me that only armour is worth getting - evasion doesn't seem to work very well. ES obviously has its uses but armour seems to work better.

It depends on the build. With CI your ES is your HP. It's not feasible to run hybrid armor on a CI build.

Ok Ben, I probably shouldn't have trashed my gear too. I should have just put it in my software stash which is empty anyways.

You could do like a friend of mine - he dedicates a tab to each dead HC character and treats his softcore stash like a hall of fame lol.

Better reward for my ranger for the Bandit quest on Cruel, 6% Attack speed or 12% Physical damage?

6% ias imo. Regardless of your build.

Lol...afk'd in a zone to get something out of the oven and came back dead. Was only level 47 and I thought I had killed everything. Literally came back to my guy at like 2% health and one spider hitting him. Not sure why I didn't just TP out.

That sucks, never think you have cleared an area and can go afk. Mobs can come out of nowhere in his game.
Path of Exile Quote
04-03-2013 , 03:54 AM
Yeah it was dumb. I was afk like 5 mins and I kept looking over at my screen and there was nothing. All of a sudden I look back and I'm almost dead. Oh well...didn't have much invested in the character anyway.

I'm still playing this game much too much. I'm surprised this thread isn't more active, I'm finding it a lot more fun than almost all my time in D3. And I'm still not on maps... Two characters at 60, nothing past A1 merciless yet.

My main problem is getting DPS with the 60 groundslam templar and getting survivability with 60 freezepulse shadow. I may have to spend a bit on getting some 2k armour chestpiece for the latter, or similar.

Ive tried to play this game and while very fun im just so burned out on this gametype from D3 that i cant play for more than max 1h at a time.
Path of Exile Quote

I never play any game for more than 1h at a time. I'll do 3x 1h slots a day though. Makes it feel like less of a waste of time...

Just realised I didn't actually make a point: the game is well designed for fairly short dips in and out, particularly when you know where the waypoints are.

5 Fusing = 4 Alch
2 Alts = 1 Jeweler (vendor price)
Rates not valid!!

Bumping my own post from Feb 20th to gawk at the old rates.

This was hardcore as it says in the quote

Alchs used to be so strong... 20-21 for an exalt? lol

It's kind of interesting, after this post GCP rates went up to 3 chaos per, now they're down to (or below) 2.5 chaos again.

Biggest change: Alchs way down in value, Exalt way up.

Relative to Chaos, from the quoted post to this one, it seems like the things that stayed the closest to the same in value are GCP & Divine. Exalts are more valuable vs Chaos, and everything else is less valuable.

Rates on hardcore seem to be about:

18-20 chroms = 1 chaos
16-18 alterations = 1 chaos
fuse = alch = 0.5 chaos
2.5 chaos = 1 gcp
15 chaos = 1 exalt
6 gcps = 1 exalt (but you tend to see people throwing in an extra chaos or so)

The gcp thing is interesting but they can't really tank too much because they are highly coupled to gem prices. If gcps plummet then so will high level gems because then people could just 20% their gems for less than their value which will likely never happen.
