I think you're wrong but I'm no expert.
There are 4 damage source:
attack
spell
secondary
damage over time
there are 5 damage types:
physical
fire
cold
lightning
chaos
so as you see you can have physical attacks(lacerate,blade flurry,lightning arrow) or physical spells (blade vortex,bladefall,ethereal knives).
the source type is written top of gems description (blade vortex:spell,AoE,Duration).
By the same logic you can combine sources and types(sources can have multiple types) like chaos spell,cold attack,physical and fire spell...etc...
edit:in your case(frostbolt),projectile/spell/cold.
I suppose you need spell damage cold damage and casting speed.
The thing I still don't know is how to decide if a build is crit or no crit.
