Def noticed that the guild was v quiet the last half dozen times I logged in. Even loaded a few ice spears into the monthly guild stash. You haven't missed much.

Maybe get a mod to edit the title to say that there's a major update coming soon. It might get a few more people to come back.

How fast am I meant to kill Brutus if I start from scratch?

OK, let me rephrase - how fast am I meant to get to and kill Brutus if I start a new character at level 1 without gear?

Experience with Diablo before or not? If yes, maybe 2 hours of play time, if not, maybe 10. I'm assuming we talking hardcore.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing here... I mean, for a start I have 590 posts in this thread.

I am interested in getting better at levelling faster. One of the ways that you could measure that is time to get to and beat Brutus, or time to get to and beat Merveil. I am asking what reasonable times are there.

I'm not sure exactly. You can probably find out +/- 5 minutes by watching streams of past races. Will somewhat depend on the type of race, the class you roll and how lucky. Or practice and find out!

Ziggy is a very good player but far from a racer so this might be some indication. Its a little dated but should still be a decent indicator.

I'm happy if I kill merveil within 40 minutes, so maybe like ~20 minutes for Brutus? Sorry for the rough estimate, I used to race a lot but now not so much. You can basically run through a lot of the early zones and only target the larger packs for experience.

The very best racers kill Merveil at 24 minutes. Live realm, that is. No idea about beta. I tried racing a bit here and there, and am in the same ballpark as Kowalski. I just can't seem to get my Merveil time below 40 minutes, no matter how hard I try. I never timed my Brutus, but I'd assume it's somewhere in the 15-25 minute range for us mere mortals.

Beta. Seems to me that the slowest parts are a) not running very fast, and you aren't likely to get another quicksilver so you need to run past a lot of stuff and be careful of routing, and b) killing brutus himself.

You can do b) without any real danger with flame totem + fire trap, but if you can get to +1 gems on two wands (fire & lightning) it ought to really help with the killing speed. To do that, we need to pick up:

1. green skill gem
2. red skill gem
3. 2x iron rings
4a. 2x blue wands
4b. 2x white wands & 2x transmutes
5. 2x alts

And ideally 8x wisdom scrolls for 2x coral rings and 1x chain belt.

Ideally you want to keep quicksilver flasks charged all the time too, but that's just wishful thinking so far.

Also, 2x hailrake deaths so far. If you get yourself trapped against a wall you just die in a tenth of a second.

That's an awful lot of RNG you're hoping for there, mate, for the short time it takes to get to Brutus.

You get the gem(s) as quest rewards, so all you really need is a blue wand and an alt. That isn't really hoping for a lot from 15m. Flame totem more important to get +1 on than fire trap.

Well, in your initial post you set out to get two +1 wands in 15 minutes. Getting just one isn't asking for too much, I agree.

Both make it faster, one makes a big difference though.

Also, aren't sceptres better due to the elemental implicit? Or has that changed in the beta?
