Is anyone else excited about this ?

Lots of QOL changes(bigger stash, bug fixes, auto gold pickup)

Cross progression on different platforms(I.e you can play on switch and your progression can be saved to your pc account)

Possible future game updates have been mentioned.

Might check it out. I didn't get into Diablo until 3, and couldn't get into the older ones with how far we've come since then. Will be good to see what the fuss is about with 2, but modernized.

Pretty reserved excitement though, Blizzard isn't exactly hitting them out of the park lately. I can look past the politics but their recent releases have all been clunkers. If it wasn't for a big Blizzard wallet left over from selling off WoW gold for tokens I'd probably not even bother.

I played a lot of D2 and D3 and this doesn't do anything for me, hard pass. Modernizing doesn't change the fact it is still the same game I have already played to death.

Part of my aversion to it is that I seem to have lost all desire to play grindy loot type games, regardless of what they are.

Great experience for me on single player. Battle.net definitely having some launch pains. River of Flame and the cinematics look so awesome now.

Though the game itself is great, I wouldn't recommend anybody buy it. $40 for the privilege of having constant server outages and now having to wait in a 30 minute (or longer) queue just to sign on. Blizzard just cannot do anything right, even resell a 21 year old game for the price of a brand new game.

Haven't played Diablo 2 for a long time. I think that Mephisto is a very underappreciated character. His brothers get all the love. Probably because he's the lord of hatred.

I've been playing offline the whole time and having a blast.

My only problem is poor performance, especially in Act 4 and Act 5.

Seems like this thread is dead. I've been grinding through hardcore almost entirely solo as a Barbarian the past 10 days or so. Currently almost level 87. Really want to hit 93+ so I can start crafting, but idk if I'll make it there with future time constraints coming up later.

Regardless, I'd happily either help some new comers with gear or play with anyone if anyone's around. Lemme know / send me a PM.

Still playing SP surprisingly over PoE, just chilling most nights grinding various stuff. I also imported my char (Javazon) and items found in PlugY from a year or so ago. I managed to find a Lo rune so I made Grief, switched my Hammerdin to Smiter and have been doing ubers for the first time ever. Shortly after I imported my Javazon I found eth Titan's on my sorc, I guess it was a sign. Newest patch made me really optimistic about things to come, however I'd wish optimization would come sooner (gtx 1050 ti performance is abhorrent in some areas)

Well, I got to level 94.5 on hardcore and I think I've quit either for now or for good. I also created a level 3x smiter paladin on hardcore with my brother just for the lulz.

Ran up the bankroll pretty well in "FG", Diablo's notorious third party currency to help facilitate trading and transactions.

But the game was getting pretty grindy and once the ladder announcement came out the player base immediately left, so games are dead and the economy has totally collapsed. I mean a 70-80% crash in the past 2-3 weeks type of crazy. So even if you can find games, which you pretty much can't, your ability to convert anything to anything is also zeroed out due to everything being controlled by the buy-side of the market.

Granted if you want to start a new character with gear or if you sold things earlier on in the cycle then you were fairly sheltered from that, which was mostly the case for me.

Diablo is still fine obviously if you're doing it strictly for the love of the game, but if it's that and also some level of end goal or productivity, the dream seems kinda dead for now.

Based on time in the future, plans, social things or lack thereof, I may or may not make an attempt at a ladder run up when that comes around. Honestly, I hope I don't have to. But if I'm as bored then as I was when I started the grind, then maybe I will. I did come up with a pretty reasonable plan to run it up on the ladder next time if I want to from a theoretical perspective. But... we'll see. But also based on how dead this thread is on 2p2 I doubt I'd be doing it with anyone else here from the forums :P

Did you miss the recent announcements? There are a lot of changes (balance!) planned when ladder starts. A lot of buffs for niche skills and much more.

I saw this... but I don't really know what difference it makes. I'm a big time old schooler with Diablo and a fan of the former harder game mechanics. I was quite d2 wealthy with d2jsp back in the day, but inflation deteriorated that wealth by 10-20x it seems, granted I did win a ton back on my last grind. Regardless, since I haven't played d2 in so long, I had no idea about the "respecs" or other many boss / monster nerfs making the game so easy for the plebs. Even the new stash stuff has made an element of the game / hardcore so much easier / nerfed.

Point is, I have a "plan" to get through the game on the off chance I make a run at the ladder. But if there is a balance change that changes things dramatically, I can just respec into whatever when the time comes if necessary. There are certain conditions that will always be true though. Tankiness in hardcore is good to prevent death. Conservative is generally better than too aggro.

For those reasons, for example, a new Martial Arts Assassin or a Spearazon(?) both sound quite viable on the softcore scene but seem difficult to deploy on the hardcore scene unless something dramatically overpowered happens... because they are flimsy characters that would have to get in the thick of it all. Who knows, wait and see.

The last update finally added overall ranking to the game and balanced the characters. This can't help but make you happy.
