I have a 4 year old son and love video games myself. I wanted to ask if any fellow gamers can recommend mobile device games for toddlers and pre schoolers? There seems to be a gazillion of them. LOL I figure he might be too young for dead space or COD which are on my phone but what are you buying/downloading for your children? Thanks in advance...

Poisson Rouge is awesome for kids. It does a good job of not just making stupid number and music games that are supposed to teach some specific thing quite obviously, but usually the kid has to pay attention to what they're clicking/touching to see what effect it has, and starts getting them to think a little analytically. The website is flash and you have to buy individual games for iOS at like .99 a pop. You can view the website on an Android device which seems to work pretty well, or download app versions as well.

Thanks for the heads up weevil. I'll download Poisson Rouge for my one and a half year old nephew.

My five year old loves minecraft on the phone/ipad. He's also played the hell out of lego starwars.

I have second and third graders that still enjoy it, don't sell it short because it doesn't look like something you'd enjoy if you don't think your five year old will like it. I've looked at tons of kids gaming websites and there are only a few good ones IMO, this and like PBS Kids and Fungooms.

ChemCrafter if they're old enough. Teaches the science of chemistry in a fun way, sorta.

If you're okay with Disney, then the Where's My Water and platypus detective games are pretty goot.

any recommendation for a toddler? Mine is 18 months and in september we're going on holiday. No idea how we are going to get through the plane journey with him and my 4 month old LOL.
Need something to amuse him on the plane, the problem with my android pad is its too easy for him to press the back/home button and mess everything up. Maybe need a different system

Our youngest was about that age when she started using the ipad. We had some generic matching game that would say the objects. A drawing/painting app.

Yo Gabba Gabba on iTunes which was/is still her ****.

I have a 5 and 7-year old. They love stuff like Minion Rush and similar games, Jetpack Joyride, Angry Birds, Where's my Water, Cut the Rope, and various racing games.

Haven't had a lot of luck finding good educational games for the 5-year old. He's the one that's difficult to motivate to learn. Trying to find him a learn-to-read app that is actually fun. My 7-year old has always been self-motivated and is a total whiz kid. She actually enjoys some of the apps they introduced her to at school, like Brain Pop.
