Yea, their POTG mechanic seems hilariously bad since release. I got a sweet 5 in one kill one game that totally obliterated their team's last second push and instead I got POTG with some other random skirmish in the beginning where I got a double kill and ran around awkwardly most of the replay. They def. changed something, it's worse than it was before.

I think you'd need to play with 3 friends and take it in turns to play healer/tank/dps.

Getting the killing blow matters a lot.

And getting objective kills/revives on the objective matters a lot too.

On that note, some of the end of game portraits are really underrated. People don't get how 40% team damage or total revivals is really really hard. Let alone 5 gold medals. It'll go to some guy with the longest kill streak instead.

Also, a Torbjorn ulting and just repairing his supercharged turret (which got a few objective kills during that period) got POTG. I'm on such a drought, and I have a big multikill ult almost every game with 76.

Good to know Sciolist.

Another gripe I have is that an opposing Mercy seemed to ult 2 times within 30-40 seconds in one game. I didn't believe it, that's ridiculous.

I've frequently got 5 gold medals and no play of the game as 76. It's just that the contribution of some characters to each game can come in spurts or as slow accumulation.

Rapid Mercy ults probably come from damage boost vs. roadhogs. Roadhogs are a great way to build your ult meter.

From what I understand the 1070 is an upgrade from the 980ti and Titan but it doesn't handle VR as well.

If you're playing VR then you should get the 1080.

I think the core of Mercy/Reinhart/Bastion is really good.

Then you can have 2-3 dps that rotates depending on circumstance and maybe a Lucio.

mercy/reinhardt seems like it's probably going to be a necessity on most maps. don't like that.

pharah can counter the combo okay enough. I'm just slaughtering with her. been doing a lot of healing too, even in my premade. we were doing roadhog/mcree/junkrat/reinhardt/mercy(me) then the random slot.

also has anyone seen how ****ing awesome the legendary mcree skins are?

Yeah, those are awesome, especially Riverboat. I was lucky enough to get a Legendary on one of my first Loot Boxes, the Commando : 76 skin. Makes me happy since I play him the most.

Lucio is insane on KotH maps. Speed boost gets allies to the point faster and his aoe heal is amazing for both holding an assaulting the point given how close everyone is. Also almost all of them are near a cliff so he can knock people off with his right click. I got potg yesterday knocking 3 off the side. I don't really wall ride ever but I'm not sure how mandatory it is given you need to be near your allies to heal them.

Also I don't think I've played a game yet where I was "forced to heal. So far someone has always picked a healer and a tank, and I'm over level 20 so this isn't a small sample size thing.

I started plaing McCree last night. Hes got a bit of a learning curve but he is super strong. I did terrible in my first game, decent in 2nd, and got potg in the 3rd. I think you need to just have a finger on e all the time since hitting it is pretty much an insta kill.

100%, sorry to say.

I bought a 960 or 970 a few months ago and feel stupid. It'd only be like an extra hundo for one that out-performs the titan. It's a nutty time in the world of graphics.

Also, any hear/care about the tickrate debacle?

If anything it just makes me happy that I didn't buy the 970. It sounds like the 1070 is going to be launching at $379, which is about $150 more than I paid for my 960 (at $215). Considering Overwatch is the most graphics intensive game I play, and it runs at or above 60 fps on "Epic" graphics settings, I am happy.

From what I can tell, the GTX 960 launched in January of 2015. With the GTX 1070 coming in June of 2016, presumably there would be something akin to an 1170 in another year and a half. I don't see any reason that the 960 couldn't handle anything I would throw at it between now and then. Although now that I have built the new PC I may spring for a couple more games.

The majority of my gaming consists of the Blizzard games. I haven't been raiding in WoW for a while, and Hearthstone could run on integrated graphics. So I think the proper way to view my purchase is a (relatively) cheap way to get by with max settings on everything I do unless I go looking for a game that my system can't handle. In the meantime, maybe I can save up and make my next big purchase the combo of an 1170 and a 4k monitor.

There's meant to be a big jump in performance because the 1070/1080 use a new architecture. The most recent 9xx cards are incremental improvements on the old architecture.

But yeh, I doubt it's going to make a huge difference. I'm essentially wasting money and don't mind.

Yeah I'm going from a Core 2 Duo with a GTX 560 to a i7 6700k and GTX 960 so it's going to be a massive upgrade no matter what. The logic behind going with the 6700k instead of a 6600k was that I could future proof the system a little more and upgrade the graphics card later on. I just didn't realize that I was doing that so close to the release of a new generation of cards. I guess if I had read up a little more, I would have stuck the 560 in the new build and just ran it that way until the 1070 comes out.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if I could return the 960 to Amazon and do exactly that. Because it sure sounds like it would be worth the ~$150 in performance upgrade from the 960 to the 1070.

I have a 960 and I'm pretty comfortable not having the latest greatest. I run everything max settings no problem and expect that i'll be able to do so for at least 2 years. and no i'm not messing around with VR stuff.

see if you can return it. I was too far outside the return window for mine by the time i heard about the gtx10s coming out. A sixth-gen i7 + a gtx10 would be insane

Amazon says the item is returnable until June 10th. Would be pretty sick to get another week or so out of this thing.

Playing virtually every round, whether it is attack or defend, as Roadhog. So far the only champ I would say I am repeatedly proficient or better in. Can continuously land 60%+ of hooks (I'd say that's good).

Need to be able to play an offense champ well though, need to learn one. Roadhog is clearly my first true love though.

What's everyone's thoughts on Mcree's ult? It seems way to easy to get guaranteed kills, maybe they should limit the range.
Overwatch (New Blizzard Franchise - FPS ) Quote
05-27-2016 , 09:57 AM
Well, most ults are guaranteed kills if you're doing it right. But it's one of the easier to avoid because the gap from "it's high noon" to "deal 200 damage to everyone in sight" is long enough to hide.

Nothing better than hooking a McCree or Reaper mid ult and killing them.

McCree's ult is as good as the angles he's able to use it from (aka the map). It's great on certain payload defense maps like Hollywood. I just got a quad kill with it in a match on that map, from above/behind the payload
