Damn, that's a great idea.

I can't believe that people didn't know that. Maybe you guys are actually getting heals and don't need the payload to heal you. Seems standard for me to finally get the payload moving, be low on health, and just stay near it because I'm not getting heals.

And the payload as hard cover is extremely useful. When it's overtime and I just need to buy a few seconds before the rest of the team return from spawn, the payload is the best place to hide, because it's the only place where overtime doesn't immediately end.

I think one of the biggest mistakes you can make on attack is not sticking near the payload.

I was watching emongg last night and there was a point where he was on the payload as D.va and the 5 other people went in 5 different directions. He got 2 kills but then he died and everyone else got wiped. He was basically saying to his team, "if you don't know what to do/ have a great reason, stick to the payload and you will win."

anyone with tips/strats/videos/twitch streamers/other suggestions on playing tracer? she seems really interesting and fun, but i can't seem to kill anyone with her. i flash in to get into close range, but it always takes me more than one clip to actually kill, and by that time i'm usually dead. do i just suck at aiming?

Played some HOTS to get the overwatch stuff. Gotta say it's refreshing to play a different game lol. It's no league but still fun especially when you have some investment into blizzard lore (several years of WoW plus played through the early rts games)

If you can't kill someone in the first clip, you need to bail. Key #1 to tracer/dps in general is not just dying. Even if you're doing 50 or 100 damage to an Ana, it's still super useful in that it gets their backline to focus you/use resources to heal themselves. Baiting out an Ana grenade, or making lucio amp it up is useful if you don't actually get a kill out of it.

Most of my solo tracer kills come from one clipping a Zen (he should be one you can kill in a clip if he doesn't notice you), or maybe a mercy if I aim well... as well as say a soldier, or weak Roadhog. It's really about just causing chaos until you can engage in a team fight, then cleaning up. Pulse bomb is also great on lots of solo targets (like Zarya, if she used her self shield recently). It can be really easy to stick even like an Ana, or Mercy if they don't notice you.

So just try to build Ult, finish of weak targets, harass their backline, and live.

Had my best Mystery Heroes session last night. I do it for the loot boxes and I'm usually pretty meh with my off-heroes. But yesterday, I was on fire with heroes I normally suck at. Won 6 games in a row and I don't think I ever got one of my mains. Got POTG with Tracer, Symmetra, and Zen, three hero I'm normally terrible with and also did really well with Genji, another hero I'm normally pretty bad with.

Times like these that I think, "wow, maybe I should play more Tracer/Genji" only to take those heroes to quick play and get destroyed.

Last week was bad for me with HotS. I'm pretty new with it and last week, I kept queuing with people who only wanted to throw the game to get the skin.

Yesterday, had a few games both with and against people who actually want to play and know how to play. I know the basic mechanics of the game and know where to find builds, but know nothing about strategy. So it was fun being led by people who could tell us what to do. We ended up coming back from an early deficit due to some good strats. I thought we were done for because I was only concentrating on my task. But it turned out my team wanted me to basically distract the enemy team as defender (I was a tank, just like I normally play in OW) while my team somehow got their core down first.

Played a bit today, think I lost more than I won.

In the final game, we did a nice job on Route 66 defense and didn't let the payload get to the first checkpoint (almost got there).

On attack, I went Lucio and half-jokingly told the team I was just going to hide behind the payload. One guy didn't understand what that meant - he didn't know the term "payload," for some reason. Still didn't really understand when I rephrased it as "cart" or "car."

At any rate, that's exactly what I did. I only peeked out to boop, give a little extra healing, or spam my gun a little. We won easily.

On the flip side, I was on a losing team where it got so toxic that one player invited another to go find him in Florida and fight. And we didn't even do that badly. We just lost.

I was in a game yesterday with 2 super toxic players who started by complaining i was hanzo, then i have gold elims/gold damage after a round 1 win on KOTH at like 10-2 5k damage (they are soldier and roadhog), and they keep going, basically incoherently I'm laughing and not caring.

Then a guy on my team stands up for me in an asian accent and they just instantly start making fun of his accent in a super condescending and racist way that made them seem like complete idiots. It clearly kinda embarrassed the guy speaking as well.

Just made me feel like **** overall. Some people are just the nut low.

My game was so weird. We almost held the first point on Numbani, but the other team made a strong final push and took it. They went to OT for the next point and finished with maybe 30 seconds left. Overall, we didn't do half-bad.

But after we lost the first point, a dude playing Symmetra starting bitching at the guy playing Torb that he never gave out armor (I didn't notice either way). The two just yelled at each other the rest of the game. Then one or two more players started yelling at them. In the meantime, we're still trying to win and almost did.

As the game finishes, one guy says he lives in Tampa and invites the other one to come on down for a fist fight. Some other dude then asks one of them if they were black. Why? He says he doesn't like black people.

I don't know if I shared this here, but that made me think of one of the funniest interactions I've heard over voice chat.

Day tracer is announced as gay, some guy in our group (who sounded black) is just bs'ing about the announcement and now he doesn't like her. That she is dating zarya or something. Someone kinda prods him and says, "what's wrong with her dating zarya and being gay?" He replies "I dunno man I thought she was dating Winston or something." A moment of silence and another random person says "...and that seems more normal to you?" Que the black dude start contagious laughter to where he can barely speak and we are all just losing it laughung for about a minute straight before someone manages a call-out. Also happened on Numbani

I felt really old yesterday. A guy on my team had the screen name "FISTERROGERS."

I joked that he just ruined my childhood. His friend laughed and said most people don't get it.

Also had a guy in a couple games today with the name "TRUMPWALL017." If he did that just to tilt people, it worked.

Was Trumpwall017 on Mei?

I don't believe he was when he was on my team. I remember someone else switching to Mei part way through. He may have been Junkrat? I'm not sure. I remember he was on Bastion when I played against him.

Anniversary event will run May 23 - June 12. Overwatch released an anniversary video - nothing new, just highlights of the year, but seeing them hit the button to launch the servers was pretty cool:

I do think it's funny that people (not here, just in general) were fretting that the anniversary event didn't start yesterday. What's going on? Where's the event? Where's the event?

It was pretty obvious that it was going to start closer to the actually 1-year Overwatch anniversary (next week). Plus, with the Nexus 2.0 challenge still going on this week, Blizzard wasn't going to overlap events for two reasons: 1) the challenge requires people to play HOTS, so they'd be taken away from Overwatch, and 2) there's no way Blizzard was going to let people win 10 anniversary loot boxes.

Hey guys, thinking about finally relenting and buying this game when it goes on sale which is probably Memorial day weekend, I'm hoping. I used to play old-school Counter Strike and Day of Defeat. One thing I don't get is, how do you use abilities in an FPS? Is it like League of Legends?

Two extra buttons with cool downs idk from 6 to 12 seconds usually. So yeah. There's no leveling or items or talenting so everyone is on equal ground. More damage or healing you do the faster you get a game changing ability. Do you remember the war craft mod for CS 1.5 and 1.6? Kinda like that
