Overwatch (New Blizzard Franchise - FPS ) - Page 11 - Video Games

Can someone please explain to me what is so great about this game? Looking at the info online I'm not seeing anything that is OMG. I'm not big into FPS so maybe that's it but I'm more excited about Battlefield 1 than this.

This looks like the kind of game that's fun to pick up casually when you want a break from real life but not the kind of game you'd want to play for hours across the scope of months or years.

Kinda like TF2, right?

Pretty much. TF2 is wonderful. I think Overwatch has the potential to be better (though the humor value won't be there) if it continues to be developed over the years.

One of the great things about TF2 is that it's about a decade old and Valve still develops new content for it.

I'm the type of player who likes casual shooters. I like being able to jump in for a game or two and not worry about rankings or competition. Just want to have fun.

Is this confirmed? Because if not, this is gonna get stale. It's very fun but laddering/ranking takes it to another level.

Yeh, probably out at some point in June. It's because ranked didn't work very well in the beta. It wasn't good at handling disconnections and the points system relied on grinding and not much else. If you had a 50% win rate you still advanced, so the rankings were at least partially a measure of how many times you'd played rather than how good you were. That's not how it works in SC or Hearthstone, ranked modes that mostly work.

Also, good to see Overwatch is still the biggest game on Twitch.

I played 2 hours yesterday, ended up having to go Mercy or Reinhardt most games because my teams were 95% widow/tracer/junkrat/random dps. Me and a friend grouped up as Mercy/Torbjorn, an armored Mercy is quite a beast and we didn't lose a single game.

When I'm able to play Pharah or Widow I go on a rampage, sucks being the responsible player and choosing a good role, I feel like it's a waste for me to play Mercy. that's a big reason why I want ranked.

I suspect it won't take too long for people to realise the value in having a healer and a tank, even if just because healer + tank (not reinhardt tho) tends to beat 2x DPS characters.

I think you'll find Lucio more to your liking though, he has decent DPS while being able to heal. His push ability is fun on some maps too.
