ive also had issues. lost 100 SR i think at about 1 am last night with 2 disconnects and the bans that go with that. really frustrating esp since i was at 1950 and right on the cusp of getting to 2k for first time

was pretty drunk and prob would have lost anyway is my only consolation

Still struggling to get back to 2000 SR, but no matter.

Played a few games today and finally got a couple wins. The weirdest win was one where I thought we didn't have a chance in hell at the beginning.

Eichenwald defense to start. Our team was Zen (me), Roadhog, Hanzo, Widow, Torb, Soldier. So one healer (I know Ana is better as a single healer, but I am more confident with Zen) and one tank which isn't Rein for that first choke. And two snipers. Good luck with all that.

Somehow, we didn't even give up the first point.

On offense, we went Lucio (me), Hanzo, Widow, Phara, Rein, and I think D-va. The Widow never went for high ground and the Phara mostly stayed on the ground and didn't try to go over and around the choke. Yet we captured the payload and won.

Clearly the other team was terrible.

Placed 3k. 7-2-1, then ran super bad and played bad. Killed my SR down to 2600. Then win streaked playing mostly Lucio to 3150. Played a bunch just hanging around 3100. Formed a random 5 stack with a preexisting 2 stack and very next game one of the 2 stack disconnects.

Think I went on tilt after that because I lost the next 5 or 6 playing heroes I haven't played much competitive with. If you look at my current season stats it's like 6 hrs Zen-45%wr, 4 hrs Lucio-64%wr, 1 hr Zarya-9% wr lol, then everyone else is like sub 20% at minimal time played it's pretty disgusting.

I think I need to become more versatile if I want to break into master.

Big changes to Lucio in the PTR

Sonic Amplifier
  • Projectile speed increased from 40 to 50
  • Alternate fire now considers vertical orientation when knocking targets back
Crossfade
  • Song's area-of-effect radius decreased from 30 meters to 10 meters
  • A temporary in-game visual has been added to illustrate this radius (it is only visible to Lúcio and his teammates)
Heal Song
  • Healing-per-second has been increased by 50% (also applies to Lúcio's Amp It Up ability)
Sound Barrier
  • Radius decreased from 30 meters to 20 meters
Wall Ride
  • Movement speed increased by 30% when wall riding
  • Lúcio now receives a burst of speed when leaping off a wall

Developer Comments
: Lucio has often felt like a must-pick due to his raw healing output and the versatility of providing a speed bonus to your entire team. The goal of these changes is to keep those elements feeling strong, but making them harder to apply to everyone on your team at all times. The end result is that he should feel stronger with teams that he can stay close to but not as strong when on teams with heroes that are often spread out (such as Pharah, Widow, Genji, etc). Much of Lucio’s character power was tied up in his large passive auras, which caused other elements of his kit to be weakened over time in an attempt to balance him. Now that his auras are more focused it will allow them to be much stronger and allow Lucio to be more active in his role.

This seems like a nice bluff for Lucios and creates a much larger skill gap for him.

It's not gonna be just anyone picking Lucio and being productive now, you Lucio mains are gonna be gods.

Yeah. I definitely like being in the battle running around shooting and being annoying. But sometimes I feel like being lazy and humping a pillar in the air for entire round of anubis defense.

Yea so the Lucio changes are super broken atm, will be interesting to see what they end up with but it won't be this.

For those who don't reddit:

What the "vertical orientation" buff means for Lucio:

Lucio can get from Spawn to Point on Eichenwalde in 5 seconds:

If you watch ptr videos he can jump around like a speed demon and is nearly impossible to kill. Can get from spawn to the defense point on eichenwalde in like 4.4 seconds.

He is way too fast.

As a player who is good at tracking enemy Lucios and as a Lucio player, I support this.

Got placed at 2200 after going 5-5, which was a career low and I thought rather disrespectful.

Showed that algorithm who's boss by grinding back to diamond! Feels good.

anyone else surprised at how mediocre the pro scene still is?

it's like korea took all the good teams, made it very hard to watch, and we never seem to know when the next online tournament is on twitch, and when it's on twitch it's always sub 10k viewers.

very poor effort at building a scene in the first year. no semblance of the overwatch league that was hyped at blizzcon.

honestly i don't mind it, i think overwatch is kind of a boring e-sport unless the hero pool was a lot larger. just surprised that it's still this bad.

I've become a huge fan of Selfless.

Emongg is a great very positive streamer, sinatra is a sick tracer/flex and dafran is a really good soldier.

They are playing right now in fact, about to start a deciding match for the winner's bracket for the Alienware Monthly Melee: https://www.twitch.tv/curse

I'm not sure if OW would make it as is but they are heavily distorting the market right now, they've declared they are going to buy out everyone's contracts (and then semi-threatened teams not to sign new players so they could keep the buyout costs down).

They haven't released any concrete details about the league except the LA team price tag is a proposed $10m meaning all existing esports teams are essential out of the game (excluding VC backing).

So existing franchises can't invest, the big sports teams aren't really setup to take advantage of a venture like this and Blizz's execution is looking quite suspect meaning those who could purchase a team are looking at this pretty skeptically.

So all in all, we're probably seeing less investment in developing the scene then you would see organically. I think OW potentially has some problems but in a vacuum I'd they probably aren't unsolvable however the chances they don't get resolved has gone up.
