Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo

Its incredible the difference a formation makes. Ive been on a real heater, even beat Arsenal 2-0. Im 9th after 20 games.

A few members of the squad are unhappy, they havent been getting a games because I dont feel comfortable rotating the squad. Thing is you really dont need to in the EPL, players are 100% fit for near every game.

Im going to involve these guys a lot more over the next 18 games. Get them happy again. I really dont want to lose any of my squad. IMO this group of players can take me places over the next 5 years. I dont care how much my transfer budget is, I really dont see me making too many changes to this squad.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo

Finished 16th on 40 points. 13 points above the drop.

The story of the season was basically, had a horrendous start, middle bit was championship winning form, then had a terrible last 15 games or so. (although back to back wins home to WBA and Reading steadied the ship during the run in.

The club have announced they are adding another 3k seats, that takes us up to 15k. Last season we ground share with Preston for 5 months while work was carried out on our ground. When will the board realise we just need a new stadium?

We are making £2m/month. Thats pretty amazing, and thats including me paying 5x more in wages than I did 2 seasons ago.

£25m is my budget, but only 250k/week.

I dont think I'll be adding to the squad. I will just keep searching for 5* coaches. I have 2 already, my entire backroom staff is 4* minimum.

Hopefully I can start adding feeder clubs soon too. I want to really set up a nice infrastructure here.

EDIT - I have just been to town on the board...

Every request I made they rejected so I went for the "after everything I have done" one and they rolled over every time.

Now I have £1.3m Youth upgrade and a £2.8m Training upgrade. New stadium isnt an option because they are upgrading this peice of crap, lol.

For future reference, when will be the best time to force them to get a new stadium? If I do it now, likelyhood is that they will only get a 30k stadium, but if I wait until I am in Champions League regularly and challenging for trophies, I may get a much bigger one.

Hey folks,

I am very interested in playing this game. However, it is not available through the german steam store. Is anyone able to buy me a key through a steam store outside of germany? Can pay via PokerStars.

Thanks

Sigh just finished my 1st season in league two and went winless on my last 4 league games meaning I missed out on automatic promotion by 1 point.
Lost in playoffs in extra time when my second highest earning player headed into his own net.
Scooby style summer of ragging my scouts on under 21s incoming.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo

Im struggling big time first season in the prem, few games to go and im 18th level on point with 17th.

Wage budget is still only like 130k a week. Made two big signings in the summer a CM and ST, both instantly got homesick and although the CM seems to have settled a bit now the ST is still awful and were nearly end of season

Earning lots of cash for the club though and got over 10mill in the bank atm i think.

Just taken a hammering away at city as well, looks like i might be going back down

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo

So i got relegated, a win on the final day would have saved me but i lost 2-0 away from home after dominating the first 70mins without really making a clear cut chance, had to go all out and got hit twice on counter

Pretty sure this is the only time I've ever been relegated in playing FM and CM.

Ended up going down 2 points of safety, if matches were 88 minutes long i would have probably survived by at least 7 or 8 points i dropped so so many in injury time

Most of my team is young though and better than last season, and hopefully the two homesick youngsters start performing this season and i should be able to crush the Champ. I have almost double the wage budget i did when last in the champ, stadium sells out 15k each week and is being upgraded a further 7k and training is also being upgraded so will be a bit more prepared for the prem next time !

Can some of you veteran players talk a bit more about the money making aspect of the game? Where does most of your revenue for your clubs come from and are you doing specific actions to generate it?

Or does just playing and winning bring more ticket sales and hence the revenue from that?

Nice one!

I wasnt too worried about going back down, I knew my young team would be better plus the bank balance, you will surely be back next year in good shape to stay up.

I finished 9th, and i think Ive found something...

I use 2 tactics as Ive said before, but I dont change back and forth. I use whichever suits my squad balance.

I have 4222 with wingers and I have a 433 with wingers and 2 CDMs.

Ive noticed that for the last 4(or more) seasons, Ive started the season having build my squad around 1 formation(usually the 4222) and around 10 games in I havent been happy so Ive switched to the 433.

When I first change the formation, I seem to go on a real run of results, its happened every time. My first season in EPL, we were rock bottom when I changed it, we then went on championship winning form and were in the top half before slumping again to finish 15th(IIRC).

Gotta be worth a shot right?

Ive got my hands on 3 youngsters from Real Madrid for cheap(Im amazed because usually they want £50m for their kids), and they have a load more youth I wouldnt mind signing. In every save Ive ever done they get **** tons of talent. I always look at their B team and u19s for players.

Ive sold a few of the guys that I feel have stagnated or not good enough to keep me progressing. I got good money for them all too which was nice.

Amazingly, only 1 season after increasing capacity for around £15m, my board have decided to spend £45m on a new 25k seater stadium. Which seems retarded to me. Also, they have taken out a loan to build it even though there is almost enough money in the bank. they took out a loan for the full amount.

My wage budget is 900k a week now(at its max), which is a good thing because every season 4/5 guys need a new contract and they seem to want double what they previously earnt. I was given £50m to spend in the summer, plus I forced them to give me more of transfer revenue(now 95%).

It seems rediculously retarded that they have taken a loan for the stadium and then only built a 25k seater. I guarantee within 2 seasons they will have to build on that.

Anyone have any idea when my next boardroom take-over will happen? These guys are so tilting!

I really didnt do anything from BSP to Championship. I never bought a single player and I never sold a single player. I worked solely on frees and kept tight control of wages by offering guys who werent needed for free(they always sold).

Now though I find myself signing young players that my scouts recommend even if I dont want them. Simply because for low wages, not much in way of agent fees and signing on fees, I can sign them, train them, send them on loan, use them in cup matches, then sell them for a big profit.

Once you hit EPL, the money rolls in. I realise thats not easy, and I think I ran like god with my young signings when I reached the Championship. Those guys have formed the core of a mid table EPL squad.

I honestly think that good scouting(I mean by you) and good tactics can get you easily to the Championship. Then from there you just have to be patient, or luckbox some talent.

~ My board decided this season that my minimum expectation should be a mid table finish. Disgusting!

I bet they fire me if I struggle, lol

Oh, and I got the England job!

My strikers are now called Mustafa Kamel and Peter Brown.

So my club, nicknamed the SandGrounders, have a strike force called Brown Kamel.

Seriously finding it hard to get a decent squad in league two, I have a 22k a week budget and most players 4 star or more want minimum 1.5k a week. The players for less then 1k are 2 star ponys.

Yea, you usually have to end up paying average 1k/week for the good ones. You have a 22k budget and need 22 players.

Jamil Adam is a good L2 striker you can get as a free on the cheap.

I'm in Feb now in league 1, we're doing very well in the league but the congested schedule means my players are resting probably 2/3 of the time. It's really affecting their training, you can see it in their progress graphs that all their stats are starting to dip now. I just have no idea how to handle a month where you're only getting 2 or 3 days between games. Very frustrating.
