Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
I kind of feel bad that I stopped playing 09... I had so many wonderkids. I had the next buffon and the next zidane. And a few more really good mid fielders.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
09 is the only football manager game that I put down after a week and still haven't picked back up.
Far too many issues with it.
Hopefully 10 changes that. I'll be getting it for 1p mind because I feel they owe me after their last **** up.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
a few thoughts:
one thing that really bugs me about games like these is the real life january transfer windows. last year i downloaded 09 from steam and decided to wait until febuary-ish so i could start the 09 season with up to date teams (after they released a team update database accounting for any new signings).
another thing worth mentioning is how some players get soooo overrated in the game and are 10x better on paper than they are in real life. for example, the 08 game seemed to have chelsea/arsenal ALWAYS buying goran pandev as the next best thing since sliced bread... and the same with 09 with yuri zhirkov and behrami. i hope theyve done some deeper research to avoid stuff like this.
one possible interesting feature for the game could be the ever increasing takeovers and then having to prove yourself to the new owners and/or getting ****loads of money to spend if the team gets taken over by some billionaire or if the business is going broke etc.
also, possibly include some kind of market economy with the transfer system and have a gradual upscaled transfer fee for the big named players over the years... e.g. the ronaldo/kaka price thing.
ill still buy it no doubt as i love these games - ill just wait a while before i do.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
I will purchase for sure, loved previous years. I was kinda losing interest in 09, until I found out how to have online careers vs friends, so much better. Hope you can do same on 2010.

I'm a former researcher and this will never be avoided until a team of researchers audits the database before launch. At the moment, when you are a researcher of a team, you send your team to a head man, and that head man sends it to a gatherer to have imported. Besides the head man who takes a quick look (heard this quite a bit - so much to do), unless the changes are drastic from year to year, ratings will be overlooked and assumed to be legit.

see i dont really agree with this. IMO when I start a new season in the game then it takes on a life of its own and I dont care about real world transfers or anything. The game is its own world. I dont need to correlate real life player skill with how they do in game.

Avoiding. I'm worthless enough as it is without playing this game 18 hours a day.

Developed by multi award-winning studio Sports Interactive, Football Manager™ 2010 is slated to release on
October 30th, 2009.
Polish — Making the game faster, more immersive, more realistic and easier to play with better in game
feedback and more advice.
Improved Match Engine — Improved AI, over 100 new animations in 3D mode, better lighting, improved
pitch degradation, stadiums and crowds.

fouls and interceptions have happened for both sides, both live in game, and post match, allowing you
to work out your, and your opponents, strengths and weaknesses.
New GUI — A new look to the game, and a new way of control – gone is the side menu, to be replaced by
an easier to use tab system, with everything at your finger tips.
Tactics — A new tactics module, making it much easier to make your team play as you want them to, with
thousands of possible pre-set options, touchline shouts for easily changing things around, and instant
changes. (the old system is still there for people who love their sliders).
News Center — A subscription based newspaper. Get the news about the football world around you that you
want, and not the news you don’t want.
New Data Editor — A brand new data editor. Not only has the functionality and ease of editing data improved,
we are also proud to announce that you can now add competitions and extra levels for leagues currently in the
game, and add completely new competitions and leagues all via a very simple to use editor.
And more... There are still load of additional features, both big and small, to announce for FM2010. Stay tuned!

One thing they need to either improve or get rid of imo is the press conference thing, i end up answering the same questions in the same way every game

I spent 2-3 hours on the demo last night, the press conferences are pretty much the same as 09. Looks like I will send the assistant again...

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
Will definitely be buying this when it's released. I'm very excited about it.
Played 500+ hours of FM09 going by my Xfire stats. (I don't know if that's a lot, but it's top of my games list by far)
I found the demo to be quite interesting. I like the whole right click on a player on the teamsheet and change their position. Like the forward can be 4 or 5 different things. Very exciting.
Although I'm dreading having to play Real Madrid in the CL final as I'm sure there'll destroy me 6-0. I can imagine their players being overly good, similar to Emmanuel '50 goals a season' Adebayor in 09.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
My copy should arrive tomorrow, cant wait.
Real Madrid were too good on 09 also, I finished 2nd in league with 94 points or something ridiculous like that. Not sure who I will be for first career, maybe West Ham.
Noticed on demo last night, Chelsea have a transfer ban Lol.

Re: official football manager 2010 hype thread imo
Not played much of the past few versions of this really but got this demo and really like that. The Game Engine seems really well balanced to me.
As Chelsea, signed Aguero and am top by 8 points at the end of the demo, hope this game isn't too easy. Transfer ban is probably going to make things hard, I wonder what will happen in game if Chelsea appeal IRL etc. I think maybe i've just got close to perfect tactics for the new system of player roles, which is much more realistic imo, after playing a fair bit of Football Manager Live and reading TT&F from http://www.fm-britain.co.uk/strategy-digests/
