going just off the demo, theres lots of more in-depth tactical stuff involving defining roles for each position, assistant manager is more useful and coaching ratings are actually important. 3d engine is better if you use that. sideline coaching adjustments during the game is an interesting touch. havent played enough to judge the managing AI of other teams but Ive heard its much better

Hmmm.... wonder what team I should pick in 2010... I used chelsea in 09 for like 20+ seasons.
One feature that would be cool is if you can change your kits after a few years. Customize your own design and everything.

theres an extensive editor that you can use, pretty sure kits are part of it

That’s more of a new interface for the sliders they're still there in the background being adjusted based on your choices.

i never found fm09 in the us. i bought it off amazon iirc

up until now the US version was called worldwide soccer manager. exact same game but under a different name
