I haven't been paying attention to much in the gaming world lately but the hype train for this hit me in the last few weeks. When I asked a friend whom I respect wrt gaming stuff if he was buying it he said: "Doubt it will be that great...wander around space and craft ****. Oh boy." and "If you play online though you will be able to visit planets named like n*****, CSGLOTTO.com, and other cool names."

Is he over simplifying it?

nah its prettyyy much that, you have to be a fan of crafting games.

its not super complex. its more like discovering stuff, **** i havnt been spoiled on yet. like wats at the center of the galaxy? whats atlas really?

its like an 8/10 game. its pretty much exactly what i expected.

100% a solo player game though, the chance you even find that CSGOLOTTO planet is virtually 0.

it makes me wonder if a company like this had 10x the funding, what kind of other things they could have added?

The space stations and outposts just seem barren, more NPCs were needed imo. Like i understand they wanted the vastness/emptiness of space, but to never see NPCs walking around, anywhere, ever, kinda sucks. Of course you get the buildings that sometimes have (1) alien in it that doesnt move. Some more complex quests would have been dope too.. Also just more stuff to do, more difficult combat things/piracy etc.

It could have easily been a 9.5+ crazy game one of the best ever GOATS. Oh well. i still think its a solid title because the features it has already are done well, its just limited.

Worst thing so far: The inventory system.
I'm not a ****ing autist, juggling a minute inventory space around is boring and ****.
Why do games do this.

Like every outpost on my starting planet had a new multi-tool for sale. Currently on my 8th planet and haven't seen one since.

Yeah, just left a planet like that. Added 8 inventory slots and upgraded the MT three times. Up to a 24 slot MT now, can't even fill the damn thing at present.

You know when animals are really easy to scan? When they're dead...

Only problem is I didn't buy any because I thought they were just everywhere, still have a 5 slot MT.

About 24 slot MT:

Spoiler:
24 is the biggest Multitool. Ship and Exosuit can go to 48.

Currently at 17 slot exosuit, 22 slot ship, and 5 slot MT.

Putting too much stock into other people's opinions (especially when you're right and they are wrong) is just par for the course now in video games discussion I thought?

No buyer's remorse here, will be interesting to see what they do in the next year or so with all the money this game"s earned. Reminds me of buying Minecraft when it first came out - luckily Mojang didn't have to live up to two years of prerelease hype.

Not giving you a map of the planet you are exploring is very annoying. Have had a full inventory for the last hour and cant find a place to sell my loots.

At those red laser beacons you can unlock with a bypass chip if you search for Colonial Outpost sometimes it will take you to a trading post.

You can always visit the space station to sell stuff.

Actually found a system that'd been discovered by someone else today. Kind of a strange experience the first time it happens.

I feel like watching other people stream this game with an audience/chat is more fun than I would have playing myself.

Not paying $60 for this, if it is on sale for under $30 I would consider it.

I highly recommend doing this:

Quote:
Go to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS
(Or basically, [any folder where you installed NMS]\Binaries\SETTINGS)[*]
Find the file "TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML" and open it with any text editor.
You will then search for the "GSync" option. It's "true" by default, change it to "false".
My performance was not too bad, but this really boosted it.

Anyone managed to fly their ship into a sun? Set it on autopilot, left for ten minutes and it didn't seem to be any closer. Came back another ten later and pirates had killed me...

So I basically found Money Planet.

Covered in Vortex Cubes:

I've gather like 150 so far all within like 200m of one of these:

It is like a 5 second flight to and from the place I am gathering the Cubes.

This planet also has these things which give purple resources worth like 375u per unit:

Made ~3mil in 30 mins so far, would be more but I only have ~25 free slots between my exosuit and ship. Plus I have to deal with Extreme Cold and storms like start every 5 mins.

Yeah someone on Reddit was saying he found a moon with those cubes everywhere plus the system he was in bought those at double cost. Lucky prick.
