On third planet just made it to ship, really really really oh so satisfying. Very epic gaming experience.

Its very worth trying survival imo, just be aware that some of the starts can be utterly brutal, its easy to wipe a save.

Pretty sure they have uploaded new assets and the planet generation is much improved, loads of epic craters and ridges.

Some planets now have no life at all on them. Imagine desperately needing resources and landing on one of those...

Also, never knew this game had bunny hops. Use your melee button and then you jet pack immediately afterwards, if this is news to you too

Survival is the only way to play.

Just had the most fist pump mc fist pump moment as I finally repaired my ship.

So many found caves just in times, haz protection is fully down, so many slightly lesser fist pumps as I stumble on zinc/platinum/canister with power cell in it. Seriously the relief when you spot a cave, the panic that set in as I realised I was going to make it back to the ship with everything I needed to take off after a massive effort to survive a 11 minute walk, but MUST NOT **** UP.

Everything is important, if I find an upgrade for life support I will change religion. Getting grenades will be HUUUUGE. Finding an outpost is massive.

The thing is, the ambience of the game really really makes the survival experience. I felt the sun blasting down on my irradiating me, I felt lost, alone, just hanging on. It felt hostile, uncaring but beautiful at the same time.

Really thematic, engaging game play that is a complete 360 on what I liked about my first 60-70 or so hours.

I prefer this, its so intense, really like having every game play feature like upgrades and outposts really matter, things like crafting a by pass chip to call your ship become really important.

Man up, play survival.

game is therapeutic on normal though. if i wanted to play death match something or rather, i'd go play literally any shooter

Taking off was one of the most satisfying moments in gaming I can remember, its like beating a boss in dark souls that had been giving you ****.

Dont really see why you are bringing up death match shooter, not really comparable in terms of even the most basic feedbacks the experience gives.

There are two saves though, so you get what you want, I cant see myself touching the normal save though for a while.

Just fell through a planet while trying to mine some of the new rubeum material.

Good times.

Edit

And then I spent forty minutes getting coprite, only to have the game hard lock when I was five feet from my save beacon.

Reinstalled

Enjoying playing on normal. Game looks great. It’s still more like Euro truck driver than elder scrolls online, but for me it fills my gaming time nicely

Fly around. See some cool sites. Get attacked by whispering eggs monsters.

Haven’t messed around with base building too much.

Might be worth a second look if you already have it.

The NEXT update makes it a lot better. The biggest problem with the game at launch wasn't no multiplayer, it was that there was nothing to DO. Sure there were a million different planets and animals in different shapes and colours but they all did exactly the same thing. Same bases, same conversations, etc. They have done a good job of addressing that with quests, random events, bounties, different storylines. If you like exploration games this one is solid, they have improved it massively since launch.

Bad news is it is still buggy as hell. Every time I boot up the game I wonder if my save file is still going to be there and if it is, what will be broken this time.

I started it up again - I don't understand why they haven't done anything about the inventory-issues yet.

Having such a limited inventory makes no sense. And it being so counter-intuitive to access/use it is also - why does it take 3-4 different keys to deal with inventory? And why does one button do something in one inventory but something else in another? I've been playing Next for about 5-10 hours and I'm still just mashing random 'inventory-buttons' until what I want to happen, happens.

Except for that, it's been improved a lot. Having to constantly fight the (lack of) inventory is really putting me off it again though.

Yeah, I stopped playing around the time they changed how ship upgrades were done. When you could no longer just fly to a wreckage site and almost be guaranteed an upgrade, it started to really suck being stuck with however big of an inventory your ship had.

Find a planet with whispering eggs. 95,000 units per egg

I’ve figured out you shoot an egg on one side. Grab it. Jet back backwards and land on the ledge between the north and south side

Once they all spawn by the egg you shot. Fall down to other side. Keep close to building. You can sometimes get 5-6 Sacs shot and eggs picked up before one dude walks around building.

Free?

I've had to spend units to upgrade my suit.

I guess it isn't free but every station having a suit upgrade available makes expanding easier since you don't have to search for them.

I have like 2.5 billion units, I forgot they somewhat matter.
